Emergency operations: Rescue 1122 saved 1,492 lives in September

ISLAMABAD:

The Rawalpindi branch of Rescue 1122 saved the lives of 1,492 victims in 1,498 emergency operations during September this year and maintained an average response time of less than 7 minutes, the emergency services organisation said in a press release issued on Thursday.

The rescue service responded to 757 road traffic accidents, 41 fire calls, three building-collapse incidents, six drowning incidents, 71 crimes, 142 special rescue operations and 478 medical emergencies in September.



Rescue 1122’s Command and Control Room in Rawalpindi claimed its response to fire incidents in September helped save property and goods worth an estimated Rs100.29 million from being gutted. The fire incidents Rescue 1122 responded to included fires in 13 commercial and seven residential buildings, the release said.

Rescue 1122 District Emergency Officer Dr Abdur Rehman said the organisation’s swift response depends on timely information from people.

Rehman requested people to inform the emergency service immediately in case of any accident or disaster.
