Police update: 6,957 cases registered between Feb and Sept

As many as 283 vehicles were reported stolen with 230 thieves arrested.

BAHAWALPUR: As many as 6,957 cases have been registered the district police in Bahawalpur between February and September, District Police Officer Sohail Habib Tajik said on Thursday.

Giving an update of arrests and cases in the last 10 months, the DPO said 12,345 criminals had been arrested.

He said Rs103 million worth of stolen goods have been recovered. He said 97 murders cases had been registered, out which six had been dismissed after they were discovered to be false. He said 365 murder suspects had been arrested. As many as 137 cases of attempted murder against 466 suspects were registered. Of these, he said, 410 suspects had been arrested. He said 460 kidnapping had been reported, of which 200 cases were dismissed after they were discovered to be fake. 781 suspects were arrested.

He said 112 suspect robbers were arrested in 21 robberies reported to the police.

As many as 283 vehicles were reported stolen with 230 thieves arrested.

He said 255 cattle had been stolen. 480 of the 596 thieves nominated in several FIRs were arrested.

He said two Kalashnikovs, 40 rifles, 85 shotguns, 41 revolvers, 462 pistols, 80 carbine and eight daggers were seized.
