The poster by Flemish group "Women against Islamisation" shows the bare legs of an ex-Miss Belgium wearing signature red-soled Louboutins as she lifts up a black dress.
Words etched along the naked leg mark potential skirt lengths - ranging from "Sharia compatible" at the ankle to "stoning" high up a thigh.
The poster is loosely inspired by a photograph by Canadian feminist Rosea Lake which went viral in January called "Judgements", depicting various skirt lengths ranging from "matronly" to "whore".
The poster carries the slogan "Liberty or Islam" as well as the group's web address.
According to Belga, the legs are those of Anke Van Dermeersch, Miss Belgium of 1991 but now a senator for extreme anti-immigrant rightwing party Vlaams Belang.
Paris-based couture shoe stylist Louboutin says the ad tarnishes his image and wants an emergency "cease and desist" ruling from an Antwerp trade court.
A decision is expected Friday.
The Vlaams Belang party, meaning Flemish Interest, has suffered in the polls in recent years and regularly launches provocative media campaigns against what it calls the "Islamisation of Belgium".

@Hamza: Freedom of speech DOES include the right to insult, debate or take apart beliefs. There is no place for censorship of religious ideas or discussion in a free society. Islam has no right to special protection from being offended just the same as other faiths are subject to scrutiny, even if that scrutiny gives offence. I make no secret of the fact that I dislike the ideology of Islam intensely, just as I dislike to a similar degree, fascism and communism and for roughly the same reasons.

@Hamza: Freedom of religion doesn't mean Muslims can kill non-muslims, as they do worldwide on a daily basis in the name of Allah.
Islam is fine as a religion, Arab culture is just incredibly inferior. It just so happens Arabs adopt Islam, so by insulting Arabs, it seems that Islam is being insulted as well (which sometimes they are). But when you separate them, you can see that Islam is fine, but the culture is just really really bad. And since Arab men can judge women, so can the world judge the Arab men by the way they judge their women.

Many North-African Muslims have brought their culture of violence, misogyny and intolerance to Belgium. The people who vote for this party, see Islam as the prime motivator behind the crime and asocial behaviour immigrants have brought with them. Naturally they are going to be critical of Islam. It is not like women are not honour killed, molested and repressed in Islamic countries.

Actually it does. It could be bad or vulgar speech, but it is still free speech. If we use your criteria of disallowing insults to other beliefs then many of the holy texts will get banned for insulting other religions and disbelievers.

When muslims bad mouth about hindus or christians or jews etc do pakistanis raise their voice to stop that mullah? The answer is never. Pakistanis only criticise people who speak against Islam but never bother to criticize people who spread hate against other faiths.
