Oic post: Pak candidate wins Saudi support

Ambassador Khan is currently serving as Pakistan’s envoy in Saudi Arabia’s capital.

ISLAMABAD: Saudi Arabia has endorsed Pakistan’s Ambassador Muhammad Naeem Khan as a candidate for the post of Assistant Secretary General from the Asian region at the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), according to a statement issued by the foreign ministry on Tuesday. Ambassador Khan is currently serving as Pakistan’s envoy in Saudi Arabia’s capital, Riyadh, and as Permanent Representative to the OIC in Jeddah, the statement added. The Ambassador of Saudi Arabia in Islamabad called on the Adviser to the Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz at the Foreign Office on Tuesday and handed over a letter signed by Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al-Faisal, committing his country’s support to Pakistan’s candidature. Pakistan being the Coordinator of the OIC’s Standing Committee on Science and Technology (COMSTECH) plans to host a science and technology summit for the organisation in the first half of 2014.
