LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Punjab leaders said on Tuesday the federal government had further taxed the poor by raising the prices of electricity and petroleum products. In a meeting chaired by PTI’s Central Secretary General Jahangir Tareen, party members said the price hike would have devastating effects on prices of all commodities and the “already crippled lower middle class would suffer the most.” They demanded that the federal government withdraw the decision. “A protest demonstration would be organised on Wednesday (today) against the price hike,” the Lahore chapter leaders said. Provincial President Ejaz Chaudhry, General Secretary Dr Yasmin Rashid and Information Secretary Andleeb Abbas also attended the meeting.
