Honour killing: Mother, son killed over karo-kari

The accused said his mother was involved in an illicit affair so he killed her, killed his younger brother by mistake.

SUKKUR: An elderly woman and her minor child were killed by her son over the pretext of karo-kari in village Piyaro Khan Sakhani, within the limits of Kumb police station, district Khairpur, on Monday. The victims, Izzat Khatoon, 50, wife of Panjal Sakhani and her eight-year-old son, Allah Adiyo Sakhani, were at their home, when the elder son entered the house and resorted to indiscriminate firing. As a result of the gunfire, Khatoon and the child were killed on the spot. Upon receiving information of the incident, police rushed to the spot and arrested Bahadur Sakhani and seized a pistol from his possession. In his statement before the police, the accused alleged that his mother was involved in an illicit affair with someone in the area which is why he had killed her. He added that he had killed his younger brother by mistake. No case was registered till the filing of this report.
