“I do like to cook, but I do more like survival cooking. Like today, when I visited home my nieces came over and they are about 10, six and four. They wanted to eat something sweet. I told them that I would make them something very exotic, so I cut pineapple into pieces and dipped them in melted chocolate and condensed milk and they thought I was a master chef. I am a ‘dhoka’ [trick] cook,” Huma told IANS.
Her father Saleem Qureshi owns a chain of restaurants in New Delhi and her mother is said to be a good cook. She says her family believes in hospitality and they love to feed people and see a smile on their face when they eat good food.
“An interesting mix of Mughlai and Kashmiri cuisines is prepared at my home. My dad is in the hospitality industry and my mother is also a fantastic cook. People always used to come to my place to eat Mughlai food,” said Huma, who will be seen in Dedh Ishqiya in January 2014.
The movie directed by Abhishek Chaubey also stars Madhuri Dixit and Huma calls the Dhak Dhak girl, lovely. “I am doing Dhed Ishqiya. It is scheduled to release in January. Madhuri is lovely, she is a wonderful co-star. I’ve always admired her. She is a very graceful woman, both on and off screen. She is grounded and real and that makes her even more gorgeous,” said the Ek Thi Daayan star.
While continuing to praise Madhuri, Huma said, “If there is one thing I want to learn from her, it will be her dancing and her way of smiling. I will be very happy if I can ever smile like that.”
