Subversive acts: Three Rapid Response Force personnel killed

Two police commandos were killed and one suffered injuries when a mobile of the Rapid Response Force (RRF) of the Sindh police came under attack in Korangi on Saturday.

The attack took place at the police mobile stationed near the Bilal Chowrangi in Korangi. Police officials said that at least four armed motorcyclists attacked the police mobile. “They first lobbed a cracker at the mobile and then resorted to indiscriminate fire,” said Korangi Industrial Area SHO Imdad while talking to The Express Tribune.

“The RRF personnel also fired back, forcing the attackers to flee.” As a result of the attack, three RRF personnel were wounded. The injured personnel were identified as Bashir, Alamdar and Jumma Khan. They were taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where Bashir and Jumma Khan succumbed to their injuries during treatment. Extra contingents of law enforcers, including Rangers and the police, reached the site and cordoned off the locality to conduct a search operation to arrest the culprits, however, no arrest has been made till the filing of this story.

Separately, another personnel of the RRF was shot dead in a targeted attack in SITE. The deceased was identified as Shahzad, 35, son of Fazalur Rehman. Police officials said that he was on duty at the Baba-e-Khyber Market near the SRP Base I when unidentified armed men shot him twice.

The body was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) and later handed over to his family. He was a resident of Orangi Town.

Separately, an official of the Crime Investigation Department (CID), identified as Malik Asim, 35 was shot and injured by armed men in Orangi Town. He was shifted to the ASH.

Meanwhile, a property dealer, Umair, 24, son of Hafeez, was shot dead when armed motorcyclists opened indiscriminate fire at his car in Sector 7-D in Surjani. Police officials suspected he was killed over a business dispute.
