LAHORE:

Last year’s runners-up KESC continued their winning streak in the Pakistan Premier Football League (PPFL) as they defeated PIA 1-0 at the KMC Stadium in Karachi yesterday.

KESC played a goalless first-half with PIA, but captain Muhammad Essa Khan scored the winner in the 76th minute of the match, making it his first goal of the season.

With the victory, KESC lead the league with 17 points after winning five out of seven matches and drawing two.

Meanwhile, it was the fourth defeat for PIA and they now have seven points after playing seven matches. They have drawn one match and taken wins in two.

“We are going to win the trophy this year hopefully,” KESC coach Akbar Ali told The Express Tribune.

“My team is gaining momentum slowly and they will perform better in the upcoming matches.”

In today’s fixtures, HBL will play KPT in Karachi and ZTBL will face Army in Lahore.
