Security ‘Lawyers can do no worse than police’

GUJRANWALA: Members of the Gujranwala District Bar Association on Thursday said that bar members could make better security arrangements at the court than the police.

Bar president Chaudhry Irfan Saeed proposed at a meeting that lawyers should take care of security at the sessions court and replace “incompetent police officers”. He condemned the police for blaming lawyers for the September 23 shooting at the court. He said the police were responsible for the shooting. The meeting decided that a lawyers’ committee be constituted to take care of the security matters.
