Murder case: SHC warns Chaudhry Aslam’s lawyer

A woman, Rukhsana, was killed allegedly by a policeman’s firing during the operation against Lyari gangsters.

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court warned former SSP Chaudhry Aslam’s lawyer on Thursday that if he failed to make supporting arguments on October 7, the stay order against the registration of murder case against Aslam would be taken back. A woman, Rukhsana, was killed allegedly by a policeman’s firing during the operation launched against the gangsters in Lyari in April 2012. While hearing the application of her son, an additional district and sessions judge, South, ordered SHO Kalakot police to register a murder case against the then SSP Chaudhry Aslam and his subordinates. Aslam, however, challenged the order in the high court. On Thursday, Chaudhry Aslam’s lawyer Farooq Ahmed requested the court for more time to fully prepare the arguments. Justice Ahmed Ali M Sheikh gave the lawyer time till October 7. Otherwise, the court would hear and decide the matter on the basis of material available on record.
