Recognition: Twin cities’ teachers bag 12 out of 33 awards for research
The “Outstanding Research Award” was given in six categories for 2010-2011.
ISLAMABAD:
Twelve teachers from the twin cities’ higher learning institutes have won awards for research. In total, 33 teachers from all over the country have been given the award.
Federal Minister for Science and Technology Zahid Hamid conferred the “Outstanding Research Awards” for 2010-11 on 33 university teachers in recognition for their research on Wednesday.
The awards distribution ceremony was held at the HEC secretariat.
Awards for Best Research Paper
The awards for the best research paper of institutes in Islamabad went to Dr Rohama Gill, Department of Environmental Sciences, Fatima Jinnah Women University, Dr Muhammad Atif, National Institute of Laser and Optronics, Nilore, Dr Khalid Saifullah, Department of Mathematics, Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU), Dr Javed Iqbal, General Manager, NESCOM, Dr Sajid Bashir, Department of Management Sciences, Muhammad Ali Jinnah University and Dr Zafar Iqbal, Department of Media and Communication Studies, International Islamic University, Islamabad.
Dr Mubashir Jamil of the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) and Dr Faisal Jamil of NUST Business School got the awards.
From the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission, Dr Muhammad Abdullah and Dr Mudassar Abbas Rizvi, received the awards. Dr Sher Jamal Khan, Institute of Environmental Sciences and Engineering, NUST and Dr Abdul Majid from PIEAS, got the awards.
In Punjab, Dr Adnan Ali, Department of Physics, Government College University, Faisalabad; Dr Shafqat Hussain, Government MC Boys High School, Mianwali and Muhammad Ilyas, Centre of Excellence in Molecular Biology, University of the Punjab were among the recipients of the award.
In Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, the awards went to Dr Abid Khan, University of Swabi, Murad Khan, University of Malakand, Dr Saeed Farooq, Postgraduate Medical Institute, Lady Reading Hospital, Peshawar and Dr Arshad Mehmood Abbasi, COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, Abbottabad.
Dr Khanji Harijan, Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Jamshoro, Sindh, received the award.
Best Young Research Scholar Awards
These awards were given to Dr Sohail Nadeem, Department of Mathematics, QAU, Dr Naveed Ahmed Khan, Department of Biological and Biomedical Sciences, Aga Khan University, Dr Osman Hasan, School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, NUST and Dr Muhammad Usman Awan, Institute of Quality and Technology Management, University of the Punjab.
Best Book Publication Awards
These awards were won by Dr Shoaib Khan, NUST, Dr Wasim Ahmed Khan, GIK Institute, Dr Muhammad Iqbal Chawla, University of the Punjab, Dr Ilhan Niaz, QAU and Dr Syed Nawab Haider Naqvi, FUUAST School of Economics.
Lifetime Academic Achievement Award
The lifetime achievement awards in academics went to Dr Jamil Anwar, Vice Chancellor, Lahore Garrison University, Dr Muhammad Ashraf, University College of Agriculture, Sargodha and Dr Rasul Bakhsh Rais, LUMS.
