The Supreme Court stated that the due procedure and the necessary legal obligations were not followed and therefore the appointment of Air Marshal (retd) Chaudhry as the CAA director general was not acceptable.
Background
A three-member bench of the apex court chaired by Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry was hearing a petition by Advocate Fasihuddin Khan Vardag, who had challenged the appointment of the Air Marshal as CAA director general.
The court had earlier observed that due procedure was not followed over the appointment and the Air Marshal was hand-picked by the prime minister himself.
Advocate Syed Iftikhar Gilani, the counsel for CAA chief, argued that the current director general was appointed because he carried rich professional experience in the field of aviation.

The post of Director General of CAA should be announced in all leading newspapwers and the proceedure of appointment should also be announced in the nespapers order to maintain transparency.
The position should purely on contract basis for a maximum periof of two years and it should rotate among all the four provinces, so that no province should claim monopoly.
This government (and the previous one) never understood the importance of due procedures and legal requirements. They like to run this country on Ad-hoc basis.
Is Advocate Fasihuddin Khan Vardag a member of the judicial activism panel?
The long reach of the upholders of law. Maybe some day they can fire the persons that are displaying inaction to curb terrorism. Maybe.
