Kitchen gardening: 30,000 seed packets to be distributed

Vegetables can be grown in utensils, clay vessels and plastic bags on rooftops in case of lack of ground space.

Distribution of around 30,000 vegetable seed packets would begin across the Punjab from Wednesday (today) to promote kitchen gardening, a press release issued here on Tuesday said.

Each packet would be sold at Rs50. It stated that vegetables grown at home were free of pesticides and fertilisers. The Agriculture Department is training students in vocational training institutes to create awareness about importance of organic farming and vegetable consumption. Vegetables can be grown in utensils, clay vessels and plastic bags on rooftops in case of lack of ground space.
