On tip-off: Policeman held for ‘criminal affiliation’

A policeman was arrested over his alleged links with target killers belonging to a political party on Tuesday.

KARACHI: A policeman was arrested over his alleged links with target killers belonging to a political party on Tuesday. The policeman, Sohail Ahmed, was on duty at Garden Police Headquarters when he was apprehended by Rangers. The officials acted after receiving a tip-off from intelligence agencies. The arrested policeman was accused of helping target killers transport weapons. Sources privy to the matter told The Express Tribune that Rangers also rounded up an alleged target killer, Zubair, belonging to a political party, from Ranchore Lane and shifted both the suspects to an undisclosed location for further questioning. DSP Ahmed Baig confirmed the arrest, adding that Rangers have yet to hand him over to the police.
