The two attackers struck at the end of a service at All Saints Church in Peshawar, the main town in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province which has borne the brunt of a bloody Islamist insurgency in recent years.
Sahibzada Anees, one of Peshawar's most senior officials, told reporters the bombers struck when the service had just ended.
"Most of the wounded are in critical condition," Anees said.
"We are in an area which is a target of terrorism and within that area there was a special security arrangement for the church. We are in a rescue phase and once it is over we will investigate what went wrong."
Former minister for inter-faith harmony Paul Bhatti and provincial lawmaker Fredrich Azeem Ghauri both said the attack was the deadliest ever targeting Christians in Pakistan.
The K-P government announced Rs500,000 in compensation to the families of victims in the attack.
The small and largely impoverished Christian community suffers discrimination in overwhelmingly Muslim-majority Pakistan but bombings against them are extremely rare.
Schoolteacher Nazir Khan, 50, said the service had just ended and at least 400 worshippers were greeting each other when there was a huge explosion.
"A huge blast threw me on the floor and as soon as I regained my senses, a second blast took place and I saw wounded people everywhere," Khan told AFP.
An AFP reporter saw shreds of human flesh and bloodstains on the walls and floor of the church, whose windows had been ripped apart by the blast.
Pages of a Bible were scattered near the altar and rice meals mingled with dust on the floor amid shattered benches. Walls were gouged with ball bearings used in the explosives, he said.
Grieving relatives blocked the main Grand Trunk Road highway with bodies of the victims to protest against the killings, an AFP reporter said.
Christians in Karachi, Lahore, Multan and other cities also staged protest rallies to condemn the killings and demand state protection for their lives and properties, AFP reporters said.
In the southern port city of Karachi angry protesters clashed with police when they tried to clear a road in Isa Nagri, a low-income Christian neighbourhood.
Pakistan's Ulema Council, an association of leading Muslim scholars, strongly condemned the church attack and said killing innocent people violates the tenets of Islam.
"It is an extremely shameful attack which has shamed all Pakistanis and Muslims," Allama Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi, chief of the council, told AFP.
"There is no room for such terrorist acts in Islam."
Sectarian violence between majority Sunni and minority Shiite Muslims is on the rise in Pakistan. Sunday's attack will fuel fears the already beleaguered Christian community could be increasingly targeted.
Militants have carried out hundreds of bombings targeting security forces and minority Muslim groups they regard as heretical, but attacks on Christians have previously largely been confined to grenade attacks and occasional riots.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is a deeply conservative province bordering the tribal districts along the Afghan frontier which are home to Taliban and Al-Qaeda militants.
Provincial lawmaker Ghauri said there were about 200,000 Christians in the province, of whom 70,000 lived in Peshawar.
"Now after this attack Christians across Pakistan will fear for their lives," he warned.
Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif strongly condemned the bombings.
"Terrorists have no religion and targeting innocent people is against the teachings of Islam and all religions," he said in a statement.
Sharif said such "cruel acts of terrorism reflect the brutality and inhumane mindset of the terrorists".
Only around two percent of Pakistan's population of 180 million are Christian. The community complains of growing discrimination.
The US Commission on International Religious Freedom has warned that the risk to Pakistan's minorities has reached crisis levels.
Christians have a precarious existence in Pakistan, often living in slum-like "colonies" cheek-by-jowl with Muslims and fearful of allegations of blasphemy, a sensitive subject that can provoke outbursts of public violence.
In the town of Gojra in Punjab province in 2009, a mob burned 77 houses and killed seven people after rumours that a copy of the Islamic holy book the Koran had been desecrated during a Christian marriage ceremony.
Rimsha Masih, a Christian girl who was arrested for alleged blasphemy last year, fled to Canada with her family in June after the charges were dropped.

We'd understand "Terrorists" attacking on Mosques and Churches. They are not Muslim neither Human! Their ulterior objective is rift among Muslims! Beware!!!
Islamist Terror in Pakistan and Religious Minorities
Nasir Khan, September 22, 2013
Yet another dastardly mass slaughter of 78 Pakistani Christians at the hands of Islamist criminals has shaken many of us. But this abominable crime is not an isolated episode; it repeats a familiar pattern within Pakistan where Islamist suicide bombers target religious minorities.
Today they chose Christians and perpetrated one of the worst mass killings of these poor, marginalised and discriminated people within the so-called ‘Islamic’ (!!) Republic of Pakistan. The bombers struck when the worshippers went out of the church to get a free meal of rice. Had the bombers chosen the congregation within the church, the death toll could have been in hundreds.
Such killings and rampant violence against others such as Shias, Ahmadis, and also some Left-wing political activists, have been going on unabated for a long time in Pakistan. It is no secret that the people behind these actions are mostly religious extremists and fanatic rogues. However, we should bear in mind that the Christians of Pakistan fall in a special category. In a caste-ridden society that prevails Pakistan, they have been at the lowest level of social ladder. Most of them are discriminated and seen as a people with ‘low social status’. Traditionally, the jobs they have done for generations have been cleaning, sweeping and other menial jobs.
Today’s barbarous crime is a major tragedy for all those people in and outside Pakistan with a human conscience who want to see an end to such bestial actions and have respect towards all human beings and security of human life in this country. We side with our Christian fellow citizens at this time and condemn what the criminals have done. But the real danger is that such crimes will be committed again. Such inhuman crimes have become so common in Pakistan that people take them as a matter of routine and say such was the ‘Will of God’.
After every such crime, political leaders and government officials offer a ritualistic condemnation and express their sadness but no concrete actions are taken to address the root cause of the Islamist terrorism in Pakistan. Unless there is a clear policy how to deal with this threat on a long-term basis leading to a general mobilisation to cope with the Islamist threat that is destroying the social fabric of this unfortunate country, nothing is going to change. Sadly, our anger and grief will not change the facts on the ground. Because the Islamist rogues are free to strike whenever they want or whoever they choose as their next target.
@Lawyer: @True Karachiwala: It not funny True Karachiwala.
Really it's not funny. Just go to any of the victim and hear what he/she is saying about IK & PTI.
First and foremost we strongly condemn the suicide terrorists attack on innocent Pakistanis. And send our heartfelt condolences to the families of the people who lost their lives in this heinous crime. We stand by the people of Pakistan in their time of grief. It is sad to see the terrorist’s apologist trying to turn this tragedy into a blame game. This is nothing but the evil design of the terrorists who have no interest in any negotiations. All they want is to enforce their evil will on the people of Pakistan. The United States has always desired a peaceful and stable Pakistan. We know that Pakistan is a nuclear state with its strategic importance in the region. And that is one of the reasons we desire a good working relationship with Pakistani people and it’s Government. It is ridiculous to even think that The United States have anything to do with this or any attacks in Pakistan when a Taliban-related extremist group has already claimed responsibility for the atrocity. Ahmed Marwat, the spokesman for the TTP Judullah, a militant Muslim group, said the church was targeted because “they are enemies of Islam, therefore we target them.” Marwat added that the attacks may not be the last of its kind. “We will continue our attacks on non-Muslims on Pakistani land.” The overwhelming majority of Pakistanis have already rejected the terrorism, and terrorists openly claim responsibility of their coward actions, so why are still some who think it is not the terrorists who do these evil acts! It is time for all to unite against this evil and wipe it out once and for all.

I read in a leading urdu newspaper Ik s saying" Lasho pe siasat sharamnak"
Does "sharamnak" hold same meaning here as you, IK, stated in the court ?
@Ali: Thank you, brother.
@Osama: do you ever read the news?
@Ajay:
"India should float a resolution in UN so that it can facilitate mass migration of all Christians Buddhists and Hindus to India"
While the Hindus, Sikhs and Buddhists ended up in Pakistan not because they supported the creation of Pakistan. They are the victims of Partition and ended up on the wrong side of the border. As for Christians, that was not the case. They were very vocal and active supporters for the creation of Pakistan. That is, they made a clear choice.
Though regrettable, India does not have any moral responsibility/obligation for taking in the Christians while they do have the moral obligation to give asylum to any and all Hindus, Sikhs and Buddhists of Pakistan.

It is time to change the text books and all narratives that teach hate and militancy. Only then you can hope to see change after few generations. Yes. Only after at least one generation.
@ Sam
There are no churches in Afghanistan because there are no Christians there. There are plenty of Gurdwaras and Mandirs in Afghanistan for the Sikhs and Hindus of Afghanistan.
Afghanistan was not a colony therefore missionaries were not converting the locals in to Christianity like they did in colonial India.
@Vishal: There is a very big difference between terrorism and genocide, ethnic cleansing and rioting, etc. In the case of latter, usually the governments as well as the majority of the societies are involved. This is what I have learned from reading history and Political Science.
Who knows who did it?
What kind of cowards would sneak attack innocent unarmed worshipers? Is this a new standard of bravery for extremist Muslims?
It is a blessing for Muslims that the Christian nations of this age are not extremists like the Crusaders of hundreds of years ago. If they were, then the Muslims with their present resources could never survive an armed air, sea and land attack.
Extremism and wisdom are like chalk and cheese. They don't mix. What kind of perverted form of Islam follow those who kill innocents in Shopping Malls (Al Shabab in Kenya) and attack worshippers in Churches (Possibly Taliban)?
Such attackers deserve double punishment; One for attacking innocents and two, for turning people off Islam and bringing shame to Islam.
Keep negotiating... one day, these killers would have mercy on us. Oh, at least they are not doing it in Punjab.
@Muhammad: No islam is a religion of peaceeeee......right brother....now even if you shout this from roof top...none will believe...just come out of Pakistan...you will know....:)
A country of peace lovers - that is Pakistan.
@Saeed Anam: "You cant win this WAR without negotiations. It do have an international backing" . Would you then know who is IK working for?
@Khan: - Sir your comment is perfectly in line with the famous mind of Pakistan- Ek consiracy theory ka mamla to banata hai. So many comments on blast and Without floating a conspiracy theory /. you have protected the nation from the shame by beholding the tradition of conspiracy theory aloft.
@Sudhanshu Swami: regardless where i am born, may it b any country. i just wish i am born a muslim and die as muslim. Allah hu Akbar. @sam dont malign Islam and dont quote out of context.
My heart goes to all those killed and injured. What a shame that we cannot protect our minorities. If this is not naked fascism them can someone give me a precise definition of it.
The TTP have said their NOT behind this. Do you not think it's possible that this might be a US-organised effort to disrupt talks and continue drone strikes?
Have some shame..atleast dont attack at other religion..atleast dont attack innocent women children.
RIP all deceased. am crying and weeping like a child. My heart is shedding tears of blood. May GOD grant us peace and protect us against all evils. (Aameen) P.S: My humble request to all those either politicizing it or nationalizing it, please have a heart and don't rub salt on the wounds of grieved families, if you can't sympathize please. Doing politics on dead bodies is the worst thing to be done.
Everybody else has written a comment or statement about the Peshwar incident what about the Christian Federal Minister and other Provincial Ministers?
The twin suicide bombing at the All Saints Church in Peshawar’s restive Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province on Sunday that left over 78 church goers dead is indeed tragic. Condolences and sympathies were spontaneous; people from all walks of life irrespective of their creed voiced their anger and grief while condemning the church bombings. Sectarian killings are rife across Pakistan, the majority of suicide bomb attacks are carried out on mosques and the majority of killed in such attacks is of Muslims. Although the bombings are believed to be the first deadliest targeting a church it was sad to watch on Express News miscreants in Karachi pelting stones on public and private vehicles and taking pock-shots at police personnel. To voice concern against an injustice is ones fundamental right, but when protests turn violent and destructive, causing loss to public and private property then public sympathy and support for even a just cause erodes. Although the identity of the miscreants in Karachi is unknown, we the Christian community must ensure that no black sheep enter our fold to cause rift and strife among the various communities co-existing in the city peacefully since long. All protests must be held in a dignified and law abiding fashion. As Pakistani’s we must all unite in these testing times facing our beloved homeland and set a good example that whether Christians or Muslims we as a nation are a peace loving and progressive people.
My deepest condolences to the families of the departed. I think it's about time the army stepped in.
Shame for Government Shame for all Parties, why this is happening what the security is fail why Government can not finish the Taliban, Government has power can do any think, why we are silent we are killed daily without any reason so why we are not coming from home to fight terrorism, we should come out from our homes and should fight till the death of Terrorists or our, if we will death in fighting that we don't fell shame, we will feel proud what is value of a human is it no value of 78 Shaheeds. i want action against terrorists. The action should fight till the death of all terrorists. no compromise no compromise, we are muslim we should have do jahad The Jahad tell us that we fight for right.
Some heartless Taliban apologists are still in their denial mode, and busy spinning out conspiracy theories.People like these are the ones who secretly support and shelter these terrorists. They are much more a danger to Pakistan than even the Taliban. And the truth is,if they expect they will be spared by the murderers they idolize, they will learn in time how wrong they were, after they come for them and their families.
What level of hatred can induce some one to blow themselves up just to kill some unknown people against whom they can't possibly have any personal enmity? This is so unbelievable and so terribly sad.
my question to Almighty God, How long, I repeat how long ? God will let it happen that terrorist will keep killing innocent people. When it will stop? I cry for people of Pakistan and also all over the world where scourge of terrorism is going on and also in Kenya, Africa where innocent people are being victim of terrorism. Some time I wish I was not born in this world and if so God wanted I wish I was born in different peace full era. Pakistan has strongest army and nuclear strength what for? You are paying their salaries, What for ?
Your moderators are on strike I am guessing? Please clean up some of the disgusting comments on this board.
i'm so saddened by this horrific act of terror my deepest sympathies for my christian brothers and sisters..........this should be a wake up call to pakistani state to eliminate these barbarians just as algeria did.......it may take a decade but this must be done whatever it takes.
I grew up in a liberal family but I noticed that around mid-1970s my friends became increasingly intolerant. I think it was Arab money and influence. We respected them because they were Arabs and because they of their oil money. The seeds that the Arabs planted have grown, and have spread like weeds.
After the attack, I am ashamed of being called human and Pakistani.
yar if you want to Show your anger against Americans for killing Pakistanis, why are you killing Pakistanis? do you think this would stop the americans?
Hindus, Sikhs and Christan population will become almost zero in Pakistan soon. After that, they will torture Shia's. What next? They will start killing their own people so called Sunni's after that. This country is on the verge of demolition by itself.
Barbaric act. Has anybody taken responsibility?
Why Government don't announce that all non-Muslims should leave this country because they are unable to protect them and because they are unable counter terrorism. This ruling elite must stop this bloodbath of innocents!
If we cannot act and go after the terrorists than I feel Pakistan is finished.
@ All..... there is no end to this story............ I bet there will be no end of these stories.. not even in 100 years.... because there is no cure for AIDS.... its the same as AIDS... people die slowly slowly as their immune system gets weak.. the same way.. Pakistan's immune system is decayed... All those who say peace will happen is just in fantasy.... seeing dreams in day light... there is no cure for these attacks even if military action happens too.. it will give birth to more and more suicide attackers.....
@Taimoor: Where will be the temples and churches to go?
@A Christian: Sincere condolences, every person dead is a family ruined, a liberal and a pseudo secularist from india. Even in orissa Staines were 3 family not 75. But even one killled is a humanity killed I read from quotes of religions at school. Heart felt condolences...waheguru, Jesus, Allah rehmatullah, shuts Mazda, and the Buddha bless you. Take care cheerio, rab rakha
Ya Rab, forgive us our sins and save us from these merciless beasts....They are not one of us, and we are not one of them.....
The photograph is worthy of a cover in the National Geographic, or any other major newspaper/magazine in the world. A stunned child, bewildered by the senseless violence, questions but no answers, no answers.
I am wondering for how many days people will talk about this horrible incident? 1 day or may be for one more day. After that this incident will be forgotten and everyone will move on and will against post same comments when something similar happens again. Nothing is going to change till real problem is addressed and no one has courage to do that.
My heartfelt condolences with my fellow Peshawari Christian brothers and sisters. May Allah grant the departed a special place in paradise. Amin. @green tiger is right unless I'm the other person who has not heard the TTP admission. Let the PTI administration and the Police undertake their investigations and deal with the culprits. I was very saddened to watch the incident unfold on ARY News this morning and witnessing politicians taking party political advantage of the extremely sad situation. One in particular was ANP's former Info Minister who whilst giving an interview was smirking, almost showing almost a smile on the occasion whilst blaming the PTI. I thought this was extremely distasteful. Please politicians: don't politicise such tragidies or else the people will make you suffer. As for CM Punjab offering helicopters, please can I suggest you utilise the vehicles to convey specialist personnel and medications to help out the local hospitals??
Heart felt condolences to Christians in pakistan. Rab rakha
It is a shame for the country which has hitherto failed to protect its citizens from Drones and definitely ignored the care for minorities in the country. Christians are believers as muslims are and it is the duty of every muslim citizen and esepecially the clergy to protect them as fellow citizens and fellow believers. It woud seem that there is a world wide conspiracy against the orthodox christianity of the middle east as well those who for thousands of years have been living in the Indian subcontinent. The poilitcal Government is very weak despite the democratisation process, the military is calling the shots an are in occupation of the autonomous territories which is causing suicide attacks in Pakistan cities. Pakistan Government and no one else is responsible for the safety of their citizens!!!
Rex Minor .
I just fail to understand why the Indian Government is not condemning this attack on the church in Pakistan. Christians in Punjab might have supported Pakistan at the time of partition but surely that can no longer be held against them. Could they have known what would befall them after three generations? Most were illiterate sweepers in any case. As innocent as innocence can be. The least that the government of India can do now is to open its borders to the Christians and Hindus and Sikhs who want to come here. Let them live as millions of Tibetans are living for half a century. Then they can also be accommodated in western countries through the international refugee settlement process.
We can do it if we really want to help these people in utter distress. No point in keeping quiet at this stage now.
Why? Why?? Why???
@balaGee: You are 100% right when you write.Pakistan should learn from India. Starting from Kashmir to all these Mao's etc. Indian government has dealt with terrorist with iron hand. No excuse what so ever, no deal or veiling just shoot these killers. Pakistan is weak state. Any country where innocent and weak are not being protected, the good lord is watching and Pakistan is already paying price. It's own existence is in peril its matter of time Pakistan will be only in history . A country which fighting within will die soon. I feel sorry for Pakistan. When in a household families quarrel themselves that household soon not any more exist.
@Omer: IK and his followers will not be happy untill all innocents are killed by taliban. I can assure IK and their followres your turn wil come once one day.. you people need to learn that we should unite againts these terrorists. Talks with these people means giving them time to cause maximal damage to people and pakistan.
@Vishal: There are human rights violations in India. You will be bigoted ignorant if you think india is any better.
India should float a resolution in UN so that it can facilitate mass migration of all Christians Buddhists and Hindus to India. It may entail 1-2 billion dollars in costs for India to transport them, get them started with essentials, settle them in homes, etc. We owe it to the freedom fighters who spilled blood to get a free country. We owe it to Humanity. Shame on India for sitting by quietly and reducing itself to a pathetic status of a lilliputian country unable to act when it should.
@Salman: Open your eyes. Muslims are doing it everywhere.
Terrible tragedy. I hope the toll doesn't go up any further.
A bad day for humanity, with innocent people being massacred in two different places in the name of religion.
One request to Pakistani friends - please don't make it worse by repeating ad nauseum the tired platitudes about 'Religion of peace' and 'killing one person is like killing all humanity'. I don't think you would take it very kindly if after a senseless attack involving Muslim deaths (say in Israel or Burma or anywhere else), someone starts the trope of 'Buddhism/Judaism is the religion of peace etc etc..'. It just makes things worse. I know you guys surely mean well, but please stop it.
WHY AMERICA IS DOING THIS ALL ? WHY????? I want peace in Pakistan and want to improve Pakistan. If I would be the presidant of Pakistan I would improve Pakistan.I want Pakistan best country ever. And education,no one want's education in Pakistan. The goverment of Pakistan should be good instead of doing corruption.I love Pakistan but now Pakistan is a country full of corruption.STOP!!!!!!!!.Bring peace.
In a country where every aspect of life is shrouded with religion and where constitution and law gives supremacy to majority over minorities this outcome isn't unexpected. Pakistan is loosing the war of its survival.
Is it not the time that all minority groups in Pakistan join hands together and demand a separate homeland for themselves? I am sure all those who believe in Two Nation Theory will fully support their demand and join them in their just demand.
@Tony Montana: Yes dude first USA adopted his philosophy by wiping out Muslim Population is Muslim Countries and now Taliban are doing the same... Both are cowards and murderers...
We need to follow the sage words of Imran Khan and talk to the Taliban. Pakistan has been going in the wrong direction in becoming more secular and this has given rise to the Taliban. They speak to the grievance many us feel in the type country that we are. We need to talk and work with them instead of against them. Those who crirtize Imran Khan look at what kind of country we are Imran Khan was a playboy then he realised his mistake and came back to the path of Islam.
Someone with a flat face, a cap on his head and a stick in his hand will come screaming that "we are ready to take the war to the enemies."
When politicians say that we want negotiations with terrorists, they actually mean to ask since our military establishment has miserably failed in reining in terrorists, what other options are we left with?
@omar what does innocent children and women got to do with our forces presence in KPK and Fata.
@All Pakistanis If God, Allah asks you In which country you want to take birth then what will you tell. Provided that he dont tell you the Religion ! Which is more dangerous to take birth ? 1 USA, India 2 Arabia, Pakistan.
Guys
You have only two options :
Risk a massive civil war and crush the terrorists once for all.
Don't risk anything, talk and suffer for decades to come.
Pakistanis deserve better than this.
Mere condemnation of such ghastly killings may not be enough. NS should announce cancellation of talks and pull out of troops from this region should be stalled. More troops should be sent to this region and a decisive operation to eliminate both terrorists and sectarian forces need to launched without any further loss of time.
No more talk!!!!!!!!! It is the time to use force against those barbarians who killed my fellow Pakistanies!!!
I strongly condemns brutal attack on church today in Peshawar, Pakistan.
we strongly CONDEMN deadly attack on Church in Peshawar /Pakistan, on 22 sept.2013. 61 people are killed 100 are injured many are missing. please remember the believers in Jesus Christ in your prayers. blessings in Christ. latif Bhatti Chairman Pakistan Minority Aid Vzw vlasgarenstraat 4.b3 2300 Turnout.Belgium
@Asim Ali: I agree with you that media has been upto its worst. See the comments on News channels, on fb, even here in the comments section. Everyone is a tiger on Internet. But this mistake of giving Media full azadi without any limits was the gift of Musharraf.
The one honourable thing that Pakistan can do is allow all non Muslims to emigrate with dignity and when they are still alive.Need be the state itself should assist them in this effort.
I.K you always talk about operation in karachi...why you are not doing surgical operation in Peshawar with the help of Rangers..
@Zain: And who is killing the Muslims in tnes of thousands Let us review - who killed Bengali Muslms in 1971 - who killed tens of thousand of Iranis and Iraqis during the 1980s? - who attacked Kuwait? - who Ishaq killed over a hundred thousand Syrians? - even the blood both that has been happening n Iraq is sectarian fights. - how many Muslims have been killed in Pakistan? Who is killing them?
@vande mataram: as well india!! go watch your own country first..
@Green Tiger: Have you seen TTP terms? Release 4000 prisoners before talks can even begin but we will not declare ceasefire. We will not recognize Pakistni constitution. The talks that Imran wants to conduct wold be no different from what ZAB conducted in 1972 about orderly withdrawal after surrender at Dhaka.
I grew up in India through the 90s ... through Pakistan financed and organized terrorism in India, massive bomb blasts, innocent Indians blasted and crying blood soaked.
I didn't realize you will be rewarded this much this way just in a few years. Sad to see Christian suffering, happy to see Pakistan reaping what it sowed.
Hindus, Sikhs, christians in Pakistan should be repatriated to India.
@Np: To your idiotic and childish bantering i say,"NIGGA PLZZ"
Thank God for Twitter - Otherwise our leaders would have done absolutely nothing.
@ALI: Are you nuts? Killing these innocent worshipped is justified because army is targeting TTP? What did these Christians have to do with it? If anything this proves how entrenched terrorists are and what a great blunder it would be if army was withdrawn.
Sad ,May Allah Help us ,
The Provincial Government should know that under present circumstances what locations can be a possible threat ,why they can not be pro active and have better security arrangements
All these people are speaking up only because the whole western world will make a big sea since a church was attacked. When a temple was destroyed last year not one politician spoke. When a Hindu girl was kidnapped, raped and forcibly converted, no one spoke. Just recently when there was a large anti Ahmadi gathering, no leader spoke against it.
I doubt anyone is fooled by these crocodile's tears.
Great News for the Imran Khan, Nawaz Sharif and Munawar Hasan, I always pray that the sons of Imran Khan, sons and daughters of Nawaz Sharif & Munawar Hasan may appear in a list outside hospital in Pakistan, persons killed in the suicide bomber. This will make them clear, in their vision regarding the war on terror.
@Green Tiger: "It could be a conspiracy against TTP." Seriously? Are you really this naive? Get your head out of your Khan!
The Taliban AND THEIR SYMPATHIZERS need to be shot.
It is very bad for country where society and religion are not safe even people are dying any other day and the promises of government are in vain and the situation are going to be bad as it was no one is there to take strict action against the culprits.
@ALI: "they have started their killing machine again". So you yourself agree they are killers, hahaha and yet you defend them. SHAME on you man, i puke on ur impotence. Its like saying lets give the rapist one girl or else he will rape more than one. You disgust me, you disgust me more than that barbaric rapist of 5-year old. YOU DISGUST ME, YOU DISGUST ME.
So many condolences came from the community from every direction when attack happens on other religious people, what about the massacare of muslims all over the world and in Pakistan they even do not utter ant word,,,,,,,,,
Is Nawaz Sharif a Taliban? The guy says that terrorists know no religion! Do such violent killings and bombing of churches and mosques happen in any other religion? Has blasphemy law been used in any other religion? Are laws/policies subject to Islamic councils in any other religion?
Only one question keeps haunting me all the time "Can terrorists survive with out support of people?" And I get one answer NO. We have seen in Punjab that the moment people of Punjab realized that terrorists are ugly and self serving parasites of society the terrorism was defeated in Punjab (India). There is a tacit support to these terrorists in Pakistan by common mass and some how a terrorist is seen, as a jehadi and some one who is in service of Islam. Some one who is taking revenge on Americans or so on. And he is looked up. Believe me Sir no Government and no Army can successfully deal with this problem unless people of Pakistan unite and stand.
This is not the work of any outfit connected to Talibaan. This is the work of forces that wish to dilodge PTI from KPK.This action smells of Dollars and backing of the friends of such forces in the country mostly from Punjab. This tragedy also highlights the incompetence of the Provincial Govt. The CM and Minister Interior were in Islamabad as if they did not find it safe to hold meeting in Peshawar.CCPO Peshawar with his very limited brain was trying to tell us that Security was there that is why two constables are also dead.If only they were doing their job they would have detected the bombers. The hierarchy of PTI needs to wake up to the reality. So far they have proved to be incapable of managing as expected.ANP and their gang should not feel happy as things were far worse in their five years. The advisers if any that Imran Khan has should be sent to school as he himself should too.It is a sad day more so because of utter incompetence of all from CM Khatak down to the two security men who are dead.
My take on the matter: 1. The media freedom was probably the worst thing to have happened in Pakistan especially with respect to news channels. They will simply not shut up and they can find no solution to the complex issues which has compounded the country. Their commentary, tweets and facebook pages are cheap publicity 2. The army should rule this country for the next 25 years with technocrats. The country is riddled with incompetency and corruption. And the same lot gets to rule again.
Time for world Christian community to wake up and take some action. This attack is just a part of the plan to terrorize non-Muslims to convert to Islam.. Yesterday Muslims killed 59 non-Muslims in a mall in Kenya. Muslims used sword to convert Hindus in India few centuries back, now they are using suicide bombers.
Choosing to live in Pakistan and still clinging to Christianity, is nothing but idiocy on a large scale. The problem with stupid people is they can't expect to get support from other non-stupid people.
this no good plz stop crime so said
actually Imran knan' sons leaves in UK. so he don't need to take tension at all.
@Ali: Muslims (All of the ) are animals.
@Ali Hazara: Our Army is much bigger animal that any one!!!!. They Are eating whole country
BTW TTP ne abhi tak iss ki zimadari qabool nahi ki .. who knows ye Americaln agencies ka kaam ho as they dont want peace btw Govt and Taliban. I still remember the way Remend Dewis ke mobile camera se inside Peshawar city ke videos nikli thi ... Its agencies nothing else.
No More talks... An all out Assault and declaration of war against these barbarians ... !! I am a PTI supporter but i don't support the stand of my party against these terrorists... they are killing our people ... and those of you calling for the withdrawal of army from Tribal Areas should keep this in mind that if the Army is more there you will see people being flogged and getting killed on roads and the writ of government will erode... just support the army in this war!!! ... I don't get this point why people are saying that army should withdraw use ur brains people if they are killing them there ... too phir woh waqt bhe door nahe jab yeh loog settled areas main aa kar kahain gay army kkoo kahoo humaray samnay surrender kar day !! My prayers are with You our christian brothers are sisters !!!
So sorry, so very sorry. Talk talk talk! These animals do not know that language. They only know demands , bullets or bombs.
And they made a nation on grounds that minorities are not safe in India. One thing they did good was become case study for other countries.
An act not expected soon after the release of mullah baradar. Forces on their foots to tarnish peace talks.
@Omer: so it means our troops are not allowed to go anywhere in their own country? Wake up.
Pakistan turned into a graveyard of non-muslims as well as peace-loving muslims.
1971 was a landmark year for Pakistan. Thousands of (war-) criminals were not punished and set free in society. These bad energy then channeled into 'jihadi' groups. The end result is current Pakistan.
@Green Tiger: your comments are appreciated !! Thumbs Up.
Christians are regretting that they supported the formation of Pakistan. This would not have happened to us in India.
"You are free. You are free to go to your temples, you are free to go to your mosques or to any other place of worship in this state of Pakistan. You may belong to any religion or caste or creed - that has nothing to do with the business of the state."
Lol, good one Jinnah bhaii
We re all with our christian brothers. Sick and tired of Pakistani minorities being attacked. High time all citizens have equal rights in the eyes of the state, all hate mongers using religions no matter how "powerful" need to be dealt with severely.
Ahmedis, then Shias, then Bohras/Ismaelis, then Barelvis and now Christians! BUT WE SHOULD BE DOING PEACE TALKS WITH THESE TAKFIRI ANIMALS!!! I disapprove this rogue government and impotent leadership of security agencies. We should take up arms to defend ourselves against Takfiri animals.
@ALL Miorities of Pakistan To Kenya
Run away, Run away, Run away and save your life. Run away if you want to survive.
@Green Tiger
Who is stopping IK to negotiate?
Why is he afraid and who has the right to stop him? I thought he was a courageous leader and made his own decisions?
Jab Waziristan main jalsa karna tha to in logon say pooch kay guarantees lee theen? Jab apnay jalsay kay liye baat kar sakta hai Pakistan kay liye nhi kr sakta?
Someone is trying to create outrage to force government to abandon the peace process. Sectarian violence Pakistani style. Stone Age: Are we there yet.? RIP
islam religion of peace, muslims peaceloving soldiers!!! shout shout
muslims killing nonmuslims,, just count the death toll of two day's case in whole world.. these animals must be wiped out from the face of earth. terrorists in the name of a terroris god
It is really shocking to learn about twin suiicide blasts inside a Peshawar church in which 60 people have died already, and with 120 injured, some seriously, the fatality is feared to rise even higher. It is bad enough killing Muslims but why did they have to do this to minorities who are not even a party to the dispute and who already have difficulty suviving in an intolerant society? This is no way to treat people, especially those of minority community.
Karachi
All this is done in the name of religion - Islam, which is suposed to be a religion of peace. A Muslim is not allowed to cut even a tree unnecessarily how these murderers are claiming to do this in the name of Islam. I challenge Ulema of Pakistan, starting with Munawar Husan and Muft Mahmood, to declare this as non-Islamic and prohibit Janaza of murderer and burying them in Muslim graveyards.
All is the game of interests, who is who and what is what….it’s all cold war since long…that brought destruction of humanity, culture and societies, corruption, crisis, dishonesty, selfishness, propaganda and Injustice. Every one claim is Noble and innocent…but no one is fair and honest except some in real might be. So wait for the day (soon) the Almighty Allah will do true justice between the true and false, cruel and sufferer and will make clear who is who and what is what.In the failure of Pakistan and its nation the major role had been played by its Army, its corrupt bureaucratic and political system. These entire crises and desperation are the results of 65 years long exploitation by these institutes. Taliban are the kids and impatient assets of the yesterday army and allied US. Since decades Pakistan Army along with foreign support has been destroyed the future and lives of millions of kids turns into terrorist for their agenda; first financing, training and equipped them, have been using them as buffer forces and non-state actors for long at various fronts and then blaming and killing them through various tactics and propaganda. While setting in the cooled rooms and playing with humanity and honoring themselves for fake sacrifices are the great gamblers and silent killers.
No religion support this kind of barbarian activities.Shame..
It all started with (Documented) :
Jinnah's Action Day - I believe in 1946 . 2.Punjab Holocaust . http://www.dailytimes.com.pk/default.asp?page=story22-11-2004pg3_8 . Punjab Cleansing . http://tribune.com.pk/story/404683/punjabs-cleansing/ .Mods : Please allow. It is from the Pakistan Press . Cheers
The attackers of the church,as APCresolution, are stake holders and own people of N and IK ,People of pakistan are to live the policies of Leaders they have voted for ,May ALLAH guide us and make us capable to choose the right leaders to lead us
@Green Tiger: "Some people here start commenting on IK & the TTP. First and foremost, no body knows if its the TTP. Second, IK wants talks to bring peace, why not IK be allowed to Negotiate with TTP. Third, The Army has no business in Tribal Regions or in any of the FATA/NWFP. They are supposed to guard the borders. Why dont they just packup and leave. Fourth, It could be a conspiracy against TTP. Some forces could have organized this attack to get legitimacy for the army to stay in KP/FATA/NWFP Regions."
Shame on you for defending the murderous TTP and confusing readers with your inane conspiracies..
Pakistan firm in its conviction to remain a sectarian sty
Condolences from Christian in Florida. Agree w/ Green Tiger's point about caution in who to blame. This is atypical.
Why talk to the Taliban, the coward Pakistan Government should hand over Power immediately to the Taliban. No need for wasting money on Army and Police, for them life is a picnic while citizens fall under their nose like mosquito's. COAS can talk big but in dire need of bangles.
Shameful surrender to terrorists by Federal and KPK governments. Its time they laid out crystal clear plans to deal with this menace instead of vague statements and APC resolutions.
Churches are not allowed in the Muslim countries. This is the reason there is no Church in Saudi Arabia and there was none in Afghanistan when it was ruled by the Talibaans ( which every Pakistani adored).
Also in Hadees it is clrearlt written that any muslim can kill a non muslim and a muslim will not be given a death penalty for killing an innocent non muslim. Before anyone start abusing me after reading me read the following Hadees
Translation of Sahih Bukhari, Book 83:
Volume 9, Book 83, Number 50:
Narrated Abu Juhaifa:
I asked 'Ali "Do you have anything Divine literature besides what is in the Qur'an?" Or, as Uyaina once said, "Apart from what the people have?" 'Ali said, "The legal regulations of Diya (Blood-money) and the (ransom for) releasing of the captives, and the judgment that no Muslim should be killed in Qisas (equality in punishment) for killing a Kafir (disbeliever)." see the page for reference. (http://www.islamicity.com/mosque/sunnah/bukhari/083.sbt.html#009.083.050)
NOw why would someone commit a suicide attack on innocent Christians unless he is guaranteed by a religion . the suicide bokber may be having a time of his life with Hooris right at this moment according to Islam. Subhan Allah. I love religion Islam
ENOUGH. The time for decisive action is now, otherwise there won't be a country left for the army to defend.
this is really a sad incident. govt should take some solid steps apart of condemning. some indian fellow saying all minorities must leave pakistan. i think he is not aware of muzaffar nagar riots where hundreds of Muslims are murdered. so please correct your self before poking your nose to others matters.
We condemned the blast on our christian community.very sad news.we should keep peace n harmony .we call it BLACK DAY.repairable wound of our Christian brothers. Islam gives the massage of HUMANITY.
@Azzy: - Nobody is attacking the ideology which encourage the belief that non Muslims ( non believers) are waziubl katl. None in Pakistan can dare to challenge this doctrine. what is the use of shedding tears for blast victims so long the doctrine( to hate non believers) is freely preached in Madarassa and mosques. ET moderator please allow the comments to be published.
things i learned today:_ 1.talks will never succeed with taliban and co. 2.i am officially an atheist.no god would allow this
For all those condemning these attacks, for a moment put yourself in their shoes, and then do something practical to improve their lot. Eradicating the separate electorate would be a start.
I condemn this attack on humanity.
It may or may not be taliban but for sure the blast is not usual one there are vested intrests behind it, timing and new type of victims are a proof
@Hafiz Shah Ali: The world society cannot help as you are still supporting your today’s "good Taliban".
Shame on you Imran for misleading the public. The whole country is burning and there is a need for strict action.
Yesterday, these same people were Strategic assets and all Pakistanis were happy. After all, they were good Muslim terrorists. Today, the table has turned, All of a sudden; they are not Muslims and are bad. You say that hey are funded by RAZW/CIA etc. to hide your shame of the past. Time has come for GOP you give monetary incentives to minorities to leave and other governments to accept them into their country for their safety.
This is dedicating to those who day & night statement on the media that our country is the safest place for their religious monstrosities on earth.
It seems after 70 odd years, Adolf Hitler's philosophy is finding some acceptance in Pakistan.
To all my indian brothers ,don't take mileage out of this horrible incident.. It is to be condemned by one and all..
Don't forget few days ago almost 50 people died during riots in ouw own up
ironic to see party of "railway eliminator " trying to play dirty politics on dead bodies
For all those advocating talking to the terrorists or blaming this incident on the fact that talks have not commenced, I have one question - 'does your stance mean we talk to every common criminal or murderer who is powerful enough to carry out such acts! Do you also support what happened in the Shahzaib case? If not, why the double standards?' And to add to this - do you think that the constitution of Pakistan should stand unchallenged? If so, what are the chances of these terrorists accepting that constitution in its entirety and laying down their arms?
Imran Khan & Nawaz Sharif should accept their role and responsibility in this tragedy. They should acknowledge their responsibility for not understanding the nature of the threat; the type of menace they are dealing with, and their inability to have a proper strategy and method to deal with these animals. They should accept their responsibility to protect the safety and security of their people; the citizens of Pakistan. They should accept their responsibility that their failure to properly deal with the Taliban have resulted in this bloodshed.
I wonder how PTI leadership would feel if a jew hating muslim terrorist killed Suleman Khan? Would Imran negotiate with him?
The end-negotiations-start-operation kool aid is selling today. But people forget Pakistan has been at war with terrorists since almost a decade now .. if they could be defeated militarily, they would have been defeated by now. Any by the way scr*w TTP, this is RAW/CIA.
@ALI: You sir are the ultimate level of dumb. Shame on u.
pakistan can learn from Indian govt...who will kill every terrorist in kashmir...till the last one remain alive...
Pakistani's are paying for their sin's.....stop talking to taliban...come out on roads...and kill all those taliban.....u need to remain firm....we Indians are with u....and all terrorist are same be it kashmiri or taliban...poor people die.....understand this....
For a religious pious person .. the life long question is "what is the will of God" ... and for us Pakistanis the question is " what is the will of amreeka" .. whenever we stepped forward for negotiations . something terrible happened... check the records.. As a civilian i would say Khakis must withdraw from all sorts of foreign policy management. Hamid Gul still proud of the strategy they adapted back then .. just an example.
no Muslim can do this heinous act of barbarism... this is being executed from some external source to create chaos in this country. TTP where are they being funded from? how they get Toyota Surfs etc and excellent ammunition. why we are failed to share intelligence even after getting so much aid from USA.....there is something wrong somewhere very seriously that we are neglecting.
Some people here start commenting on IK & the TTP. Some forces could have organized this attack to get legitimacy for the army to stay in KP/FATA/NWFP Regions.
& ET, let all the people have their opinions said rather than you block selective comments which you think is OK. As long as there`s no abuse, all comments should be allowed to pass.
You cant win this WAR without negotiations. It do have an international backing
The killing of innocents is the sport of madmen. These killers are madmen who fear those that carry arms. Do they hear voices in their heads? Like that mad man in Washington DC. Pehaps in their addled minds they see Christians and Shia as monsters. Are ther mad Shia and crazy Christians who will return this horrible gift? What is the next horror that these madmen will bring to the world?
@Omer: you said : Without negotiations you cant stop this WAR. IK is so RIGHT. This is the reaction of our armed forces presence in KPK and FATA region
MY TAKE : But why kill innocent bystanders - what is IK or Taliban want to convey - this defies my imagination
Don't we feed these monsters in our own neighbourhoods. We tolerate them, we follow them as long as they don't blast us.
Pakistan strategic assets at its best, is this was the reason Talibani was released?
What a shame Army Imran Khan and Goverment busy negotiating with Talibans yet they continue to kill innocent people.
Wow how secular Islamic Pakistan is. Shame on those supporting Islamic fanatics. Pakistan looking heading towards doom for sure.
Dussehra arrived early in Pakistan.
talks to the murderers in any case is not acceptable even if they are victims
the root cause of our problem is condemnation.
Talibans never talk, Period, clean them or be cleaned
Peacemaker, Human Dignity Defender and Faith Defender in Christ Khalid Gill Quaid-e-Aqleat Pakistan from Canada is strongly condemned two bomb blast suicide attacks on All Saints Church Lahori -- Kohati Gate Peshawar City in Pakistan , shown solidarity with victim families and Christians of Pakistan. May God passionate the suffering and persecuted Christians and religious minorities of Pakistan and protect their life and huge figures martyred may rest their souls in HIS peace and may God in large number of people heal soon all of them who are injured and under depression in these brutal attacks.HE said that the religious minorities and Christians of Pakistan are unsecured in their own beloved country Pakistan attacks on them are increasing day by day and many many incidents are occurred in various parts on the country to force them to leave their own motherland syndicate because of religious discrimination and blasphemy laws even leaders and human rights activists are compelled to stop their voice or leave the country after receiving life threats by Muslim Militants and pro-Taliban Organizations. Quaid-e-Aqleat Khalid Gill demanded to arrest the culprits and provide the protection to Christians and |Religious Minorities Govt of Pakistan Provincial , KPK Govt should take an emergent severe action against all of them who are destroying the peace of building of Pakistan. In the end of the statement Quaid-e-Aqleat Khalid Gill demanded Govt should repeal all blasphemy laws and stop these brutal attacks and provide protection and Proncial Govt KPK should resign immediately. ABID CHAND spokesman from Canada .
This is so sad.The government should wake up and stop this madness The world civil society should help GOP to bring peace and safety of citizens in Pakistan
where is IK...instead of poking nose everywhere ...try to concentrate on good governance in KKP.for which of KP elected you....there should also be surgical operation in Peshawar
sad
Imran Khan should not mince words and should openly say, that he is surrendering to TTP and handling them over various areas in KPK where he fears he can not manage security.
@Omer: The naivete of some people is amazing. The barbarians do not understand what the word Negotiation means. They only know how to kill innocent people and will NEVER honor their word. Get out of your cocoon.
No way but to eliminate these monsters with full force of state.
@Omer: Go tell IK to negotiate then. Just like Col. Imam and Khalid Khwaja did.
Govt of KP should be dismissed, Governor Rule should be imposed.
A full-fledge army operation should be launched to sniff out these animals from the furthest corners of FATA, KP & Baluchistan
all the non muslims who are living in pak should leave pak immediately if you people want to survive.
@ALI: Amazing reasoning.TTP were distributing cakes and helping old ladies cross the street before the PHC order.
Killing is wrong whether it is done in Peshawar or in FATA and waziristan. My suggestion is that we forgo our double standards and start condemning killings everywhere.
Those who blame India for Human right violation of Minorities, they should first try to keep their house in order
Taliban apologists come to their rescue again.Sharmnaak!!!
@Omer
Your argument makes very little sense. They avenge the presence of armed forces in KPK by attacking people belonging to other faiths. If negotiations mean exterminating other faiths, then its legitimizing mass murder and not attainment of peace
@Ali:
How is that going to help/ is it going to bring thr dead back? Spit on PTI whose lradership have given Taliban open hand to do whatever they want.
APC don't include the real stake holders who are being targeted and killed and thats why they are in the favour of talks. they can't feel the pain and the need of the hour,,,For God sake Don't do this...
@Ali: can you convince such animals to table talks......no................ .even if they do...talibans will try to get everything in their way....so it will be table terrorism if discussion is started with them.... killing so many people and then claiming it to be service to islam....total lie......
Thanku kaptaan. You are a deluded proud stubborn man , peace with these barbarians is idiotic but of course you don't care as corruption is the biggest problem surely !
It is strange that suddenly the suicide attacks increase after APC calls for negotiations but Army opposes it.
"We need to TALK more". PTI and PMLN's combined statment after the attack
Keep on fighting with them and they will kill you like this forever. How can anyone win a US/Saudia funded WAR
please all the minority leave the pakistan immediately
Without negotiations you cant stop this WAR. IK is so RIGHT. This is the reaction of our armed forces presence in KPK and FATA region
Ah!
Drone victims expressing their grief? Eh, PTI?
Those who said. IK was wrong in having negotiations with Talibans, eat your words. Moment Peshawar high court stopped withdrawal of toops from Swat and other areas, they started operating as a killing machine once again
Why do all news stories use the word 'killed'? They should say 'murdered'.
