Violence round-up: Assembly speaker seeks probe into murder of teenage girl

Condoles with victim’s family, gives Rs30,000 in financial aid.

SWABI: Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser on Friday directed the district police officer (DPO) to constitute an investigation committee to probe the murder of a 14-year-old girl whose body was found from a field in Marghaz, Swabi on Thursday.

Condoling with the victim’s family at their house, Qaiser said such cases of violence will be dealt with an ‘iron hand’ and the culprits taken to task. He also gave Rs30,000 in financial aid to the deceased’s father.

Meanwhile, five murders including those of two women were reported in the district on Friday, according to the Swabi police. A 45-year-old woman was shot dead on Jehangira Road by unidentified assailants, while an FIR was filed against Gul Nabi for allegedly killing his daughter with the help of his son.

Separately, an FIR lodged with the police stated Latif and Aziz allegedly opened fire at their relative Sartaj, who was rushed to a hospital where he succumbed to the injuries.

Elsewhere, a resident of Topi, Rubnawaz was allegedly killed by Tariq and Zaid. Another police report stated Pervez was allegedly killed by his uncle and cousin, also over a family dispute.
