Security sweep: Nato attack suspects arrested in Hub

A majority of the suspects are involved in Lyari gang war.

A dozen men suspected of involvement in attacks on Nato trucks were rounded up by Frontier Corps and police personnel in the Hub area of Balochistan on Thursday.


Of those 10 suspects are believed to be “Lyari gang war members” and law enforcement personnel have recovered a huge cache of weapons and explosive material from their custody, according to an FC spokesman.

“Security personnel recovered weapons and explosive material from their custody,” FC spokesman said in a statement, adding that they recovered 4 Kalashnikovs, 1 G-3 Rifle, 25 grenades, 1 sniper Rifle with 2,100 rounds, 6 pistols with 200 rounds, 400 kilogrammes of explosive materials, four walkie-talkie sets and 4,000 different kinds of rounds. The FC also recovered a Toyota Land Cruiser from their custody, he added.

The FC spokesman also confirmed that the suspects attacked the Nato container convoys and destroyed 22 Nato oil tankers using the impounded vehicle.

Apart from, the Nato containers attack, he said the suspects were also involved in different crimes, adding that they are currently being interrogated by the FC and police.

FC Inspector General Ijaz Shahid praised security men for their successful operation and said that the FC is utilising all its resources to bring lasting peace to the province.

Hopefully now everyone outside Karachi will also know that these are the real conspirators behind the 19 (not 19,000!) missing containers
