Karachi blast leaves three dead, several injured

The intensity and nature of the blast is not yet known.

KARACHI: Three people were killed and several injured in an explosion that took place in the Landhi Majeed Colony area of Karachi late on Thursday, Express News reported.

The explosion took place near Nawab Hotel, reported Nadeem Khan, Express News correspondent, adding that according to reports around 12 people were injured.

Khan reported that the area which is near an imam bargah was an open ground at which unidentified attackers threw hand grenades and fled.

The injured have been shifted to Jinnah Hospital while rescue teams are on their way.

Four of the injured are being described to be in a critical condition.

Talking about the area, Nadeem said that the Majeed Colony is heavily populated and police officials are facing difficulty in cordoning off the area as everyone has gathered on the site of the explosion.

Chief Minister Sindh Qaim Ali Shah has taken notice of the incident.

Condemning the attack, he said that security needed to be beefed up in Karachi.

Dear CM, when you say that security in Karachi is to be beefed up, I see additional police mobile at CM house. Is this what you call Karachi. You have to release police to do their real job i.e protecting the people and just CM and ministers.
