Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry headed the five-member bench, which also comprised Justice Jawwad S Khawaja, Justice Khilji Arif Hussain, Justice Amir Hani Muslim and Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed.
Attorney-General Munir A Malik presented a report in the court which stated that 1,357 criminal elements were arrested between September 5 and September 16.
He said that 1,000 CCTV cameras are already in place in Karachi and 910 more are due to be installed. He added that a total of 2,060 cameras will be installed by November, 2013.
Rangers Director-General, Major General Rizwan Akhter, Inspector General Sindh, Chief Secretary Muhammad Shehzad and Frontier Corps (FC) Commandant were also present at the hearing.
Dr Ramzan Bhatti will present a report to the court regarding the missing containers case, which saw the alleged disappearance of over 19,000 containers allegedly carrying arms, ammunition, liquor and other goods.
The arms in these containers were reportedly used to further violence in Karachi. The sealed report will be opened and examined by the court today.
Investigation began into the missing containers case on September 2, following an order from the Supreme Court.

It’s not rocket science just take Karachi from PPP control and give to the people who belong to Karachi.
The problem is those " people of Karachi " before their inception Karachi was peaceful city . Pakistan belongs to everyone who holds Pakistani NIC . Whether you like it or not PPP has the majority and has all the rights to stay in power those ' people of Karachi" have always been in power
Supreme Court please also facilitate Karachi to have a a powerful, independent and effective city government without which peace cannot be restored
