Discipline: 22 sanitary workers fired for absenteeism

As many as 22 sanitary workers were removed from service on Monday for being absent from duty.


The workers were employed in 2007 in the sanitary wing of the city district government at Madina Town. District Officer Tariq Khan Niazi said the workers were apparently working at the houses of former town nazims and at the houses of relatives of some MPAs and MNAs. He said several teams had been constituted to ensure that the sanitary workers were not absent from work.

“Steps are also being taken to improve the sanitary conditions in the city,” he added. The workers fired on Monday were identified as Yaqoob, Shabbir, Shahbaz, Afzal, Younus, Sabir, Arshad, Yousuf, Asif, Irfan, Saleem, Asghar, Sarfraz, Aleem, Irfan, Zubair, Mazhar, Nadeem, Imran, Shehzad, Zuran and Aslam.
