Neurosurgeon Taufiq Sattar lost his wife Shehnila Taufiq, 20-year-old daughter Zainab and two teenage sons, Bilal, 17, and Jamal 15 in a blaze on Friday. Sattar had been away working in a private clinic in Dublin. He was described as “inconsolable” after returning to the Spinney Hills district of Leicester on Friday to find his whole family wiped out. The fire came just hours after a young man was stabbed to death about a mile away. Police said they could not rule out that the fire was intended as a revenge attack. Some locals even claimed the house might have been targeted amid concern that the attacks had racial overtones within Leicester’s black and Asian communities. Keith Vaz, the local MP, met Sattar and appealed for calm in the community.
