Murder suspect: Residents want neighbour released

Satellite Town SHO Razzaq Warraich denied the allegation.

GUJRANWALA: Several relatives of a man arrested by police for murder staged a protest demonstration in front of the Satellite Town police station on Friday. One of the protestors, Sumaira Bibi, told the media that Akthar, 35, had falsely been accused. She said the police had demanded a Rs400,000 bribe from Akhtar and arrested him when he refused to pay. The protest ended when senior police officials assured the protestors that an investigation would be carried out in accordance with the law. Satellite Town SHO Razzaq Warraich denied the allegation.
