During a case in the Supreme Court regarding oil companies’ pollution, Additional Attorney General Shah Khawar said that the oil companies were meant to spend $1,300,000 promoting healthcare, education and other social welfare activities and had not done so.
Justice Jawad S Khawaja said that due to restrictions on oil companies, they must promote social welfare in any areas where they operate.

Well tomorrow has come..........its called today...........show us the money !
I don't think anyone takes CJ seriously after Arslan's case !
@Jamshed: Sorry to read what your CO had gone thru. You have to be a big time lunatic just to think of investing money in this country. I would suggest all those to stay out or be ready for your wives or daughters to be picked up for tawaan.
British Petroleum installed 20 hand pumps at the cost of Rs.8 million this how they have shown in their report. This is how they spent money in community. In practical a single hand pump cost Rs 10,000 only and if they really spend Rs. 8 million they were supposed to install 800 hand pumps.
I doubt very much that the relevant ministry let this money go.............it must have gone somewhere if not towards humanitarian causes.
Its a well organize system to get the culprits in the courts for the justice which people are waiting for a long time. Its a real fight against the injustice and for the rights of the people —called Human Rights. well done Apex Court !
People are not happy in any case. It seems true for us unfortunately. It is a good order by Chief Justice of Pakistan. Hope that Supreme Court will direct the Pakistan government to use the submitted money by oil companies on healthcare, education and social welfare programs.
