A police official killed in the militant assault on a local court in Kohat on Monday was laid to rest in his native village of Sur Gul on Tuesday.
Two burqa-clad militants wearing explosive-laden vests barged inside the court premises and lobbed a hand grenade while opening fire, killing Constable Muhammad Sajid and injuring several others. Contingents of police rushed to the site after the incident and shot down the attackers in the ensuing firefight. Sajid’s funeral was attended by senior police officials and civil society members. He was also presented with the guard of honour.
