Deadly attack in Khyber Agency: Three aman jirga members killed, four kidnapped

Leader of Bara Aman Lashkar was also killed in a separate incident.

Militants beheaded three members of a peace committee and kidnapped four other members on Monday in Khyber Agency.


“Late at night, many militants stormed the office of a peace committee while its members were asleep. The peace committee members could not even retaliate,” said an official of the political administration.

Two of the beheaded bodies were found after the incident in Qamabarabad Shalobar. The militants kidnapped four.

Those who were killed were identified as Zakaria, Najmi, and Shahid. “The militants threw two of the heads on the way and warned the locals not to pick them before 12 noon on Monday,” he added.

He said those killed had freshly joined the committee as volunteers. The four kidnapped members could not be identified.

The bodies were shifted to the levies forces centre at Shahkas and later handed over to their families. A member of the committee confirmed the bloody incident. Some unconfirmed reports stated that ten members of the committee were kidnapped. No one claimed responsibility for the incident till the filing of this report.

In another incident, a leader of the Bara Aman Lashkar was killed from the Jalozai Camp by unidentified people, according to a police official.

The leader, Mirza, was returning to Jalozai internally displaced peoples’ camp from market when unidentified motorcyclists opened fire at him. The police have filed an FIR against the gunmen.
