MULTAN: A police officer arrested on Thursday for receiving a Rs100,000 bribe has been sent to jail on a 14-day remand. Civil Judge Mian Tariq Mehmood on Friday ordered the anti-corruption police to produce him again on September 20. The complainant, Muhammad Ramazan, a head constable, had filed an application with the district and sessions judge alleging that Mirza Khalid Mujahid, an assistant director at the CPO’s office in Multan, had deliberately misplaced his personal file and was demanding a Rs100,000 bribe. The matter was referred to special judicial magistrate Muhammad Akbar Zahoor. Zahoor and Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) officials raided and recovered Rs100,000 from the accused officer after he had received the amount from the complainant.
