The relatives of a 75-year-old man who was declared guilty of having illicit relations with a woman by a panchayat six months ago staged a protest demonstration in front of the district police officer’s office on Thursday.

Allah Bachaya, a resident of Darkhwast Jamal Khan, said that a panchayat had fined him Rs1 million. He said it had also ordered that his alleged ‘partner’, a mother of three children, be sold. Bachaya said the panchayat had also ordered him to relocate. He said his life was in danger as he had refused to move.
