Announcing allegiance: MPA from Hangu joins PTI

Shah Faisal Khan won by-election from PK-42 as an independent candidate.

PESHAWAR:

The newly-elected Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Assembly MPA Shah Faisal Khan formally joined the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Monday.

An announcement to this effect was made when Faisal, accompanied by a 40-member delegation from Hangu, met Chief Minister Pervez Khattak at his office.

Faisal won the by-elections from PK-42 Hangu as an independent candidate. He is the brother of former MPA from Hangu Farid Khan, who was gunned down soon after being elected in the May 11 elections.

Faisal said he would strive to carry on the mission of his late brother and his aim was to serve the downtrodden segment of society. “This is why I have decided to join the PTI as a political platform,” said Faisal.

He expressed full confidence in the leadership of CM Khattak and PTI chief Imran Khan and assured Khattak he would extend his support to the provincial government in the implementation of its agenda of change.

Other members of his delegation briefed the CM on the problems and difficulties faced by the people of Hangu and discussed development plans with him. In response to a complaint made by the members, Khattak directed the health department to submit a report regarding the delay in the construction of a new building for District Headquarters Hospital Hangu.

Khattak also issued instructions to take necessary measures regarding construction of public parks and housing schemes in the district.

When the delegation members demanded the establishment of a Hangu Development Authority, the CM directed the local government authorities to draw up and submit a feasibility report of the project to him.

Khattak assured them of allocating funds for a new water supply scheme in the next budget and directed the Public Health Engineering Department to carry out a survey of the scheme. He also promised funds for the establishment of a degree college, a technical college and the repair of roads in the next budget.
