India moves Interpol for arrest of Pak armymen

India issues arrest warrants for 5 Pakistani citizens, including 2 army officers, for involvement in Mumbai attacks.

Interpol notified its members on Thursday that India has issued arrest warrants for five Pakistani citizens, including two army officers, for alleged involvement in the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, an Associated Press report said.

India asked Interpol to issue “Red Corner Notices” for the five Pakistanis, said RK Gaur, a spokesman for India’s Central Bureau of Investigation, the AP report said.

According to Indian news agency ANI, the warrant was issued on the basis of disclosures made by incarcerated David Headley, who was extensively questioned by NIA officials in June this year. Headley is said to have carried out a reconnaissance mission for identifying targets in Mumbai for the Lashkar to strike. He is currently lodged in a Chicago jail.

The five Pakistanis wanted by India are Maj Sameer Ali, Maj Iqbal, Illyas Kashmiri, Abdur Rehman Hashim and Sajid Majid, Gaur said.

Iqbal was Headley’s handler who arranged funds and training for him, the Press Trust of India news agency reported. It said Ali was also named by Headley.

Arrest warrants for the five were issued by a New Delhi court in July following a request by the National Investigation Agency.

A Red Corner notice has already been issued against Lashkar founder Hafiz Sayeed and his close aide Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi.

India did not wait for Pakistan to send dossiers after dossiers and reject them on flimsy basis like Pakistan has done after Mumbai attacks. We investigated it and the head of that organization which attacked the Train is in Jail. Even people in Pakistan thought some Jihadi organization must have done it when WE told THEM that it was an Indian who did it. Tell me, the group's leader which was responsible for Samjhota Blasts is in Jail in India. Where is the group's leader which was responsible for Mumbai attacks is? Answer: He is roaming freely and giving fiery speeches for Jihad. Considering the mess Pakistan has created for itself supporting Jihadis dont you think such belongs in Jail?

Prasad Purohit).......it was aslo initaily blamed in ISI.....u guys are obsessed with Pakistan, Pakistan Army and ISI.....u guys even blamed Pakistan for the Plague which spread in India in 1994.

sajid | 13 years ago | Reply @Adeel Ahemad : They day India follows and commits to the UN resolutions in relation to Kashmir… Pakistan will gladly adhere to UN/Interpol’s requests… But until then… Almost all pakistanis are illiterate. UN resolution information is online and can be accessed and read by any one. There are more action in Pakistan plate then Indian plate. and Against Pakistan should not have lost 1971 war and signed a bilateral document with India that Kashmir is a bilateral issue between two countries.

If Pakistan does not co opertae, it is simple proof for world police organisation that pakistan is a rough state who support terrorism. The way Indian have framed pakistanis, it is a double side sword. if you agree then internal backlash and if you don,t then you are getting wetted that you are a rough terrorist country.

Was India responsible when the Baluchistan crisis escalated in 1970s? What proof does Pakistan have? How do you know what it has or doesn't have? If the government has some proofs why dont they produce it in front of the International media and "expose" India, like India did regards to Mumbai? This is just a counter allegation that no one really believes. Just another effort to demonize India by the establishment.

It is Pakistan who has shown tolerance otherwise tit for tat reaction will be hazardous for India too. But there is a limit of tolerance. India should recognize Pakistan is a brotherly neighbor and not try to impose and become a policeman of this territory notwithstanding Pakistan is also a Nuclear Power and we know how to tackle such interference. Indians dont go to Pakistan to kill other Pakistanis. So, the comparison is not justified. All the mayhem that is happening in Pakistan is the result of its own foolish actions of supporting Jihadis in Afghanistan and Kashmir who have turned against the state.

Dr. Saleem Siddiqi | 13 years ago | Reply I fully agree with Anoop that Pakistan has high regards for the US Security Council. It is only India who despite its agreement to conduct free and fair plebiscite in the held disputed Kashmir did not follow Security Council and does not care the world opinion. In accordance with Government of Pakistan request, India should hand over the arrested alleged Pakistani to Pakistan for interrogation and if found guilty severe punishment. Keeping him and confining him in confinement to extract Indian like statements is not fair to implicate Pakistan in an attack in which Pakistan was not at all involved. India faced one terrorist attack for which it is making hue and cry, but on the other hand Pakistan is having daily attacks in which precious lives are lost. I bet they will think otherwise now. Interpol, being a part of UN, has issued warrants against Pakistani army personnel..

India is plagued with pakistanophobia due to it's hegemonious design and illegal occupation in the held Kashmir where hundreds of innocent Kashmiris youth are slain through the hands of the indian secularism legacy. Inform them in a simple language that no Pakistani Muslman is involved in any Terrorism because this is what our Media Anchor Persons and Religious Scholars say. Surely, RAW, CIA, Mosad, KFC, KESC, WAPDA, McDonald must be involved. Even Kasab came from another planet.
