ISLAMABAD:

An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Saturday sent a suspect arrested in connection with the failed suicide bombing attempt at an imambargah in Bhara Kahu on a 14-day judicial remand.

The police produced the suspect, Anwar Hameed, before the trial court, which sent him to Adiala Jail on remand.

The trial court ordered the police to produce him during the next hearing on September 13.

On August 28, the capital police arrested the suspect — who allegedly assisted the would-be suicide bomber in storming the imambargah on Eid day. The bomber was foiled by a security guard who shot him dead.

The police had taken five suspects into custody including the bomber’s father, two brothers and two other suspects for their alleged involvement in facilitating the suicide bomber, Hidayatullah.
