Tennis: Aqeel defeats Yasir to win ranking championship

He defeated second-seed Yasir Khan 6-4, 6-4 at the PTF Tennis Complex in Islamabad.

Top seed Aqeel Khan clinched the inaugural Eastern Testing Services PTF Ranking Tennis Championship 2013 men’s singles title as he defeated second-seed Yasir Khan 6-4, 6-4 at the PTF Tennis Complex in Islamabad yesterday. Aqeel bagged the winners’ prize of Rs40,000, while Yasir received Rs25,000.


Meanwhile, Sara Mansoor won the women’s singles title after she defeated Rida Khalid 6-2, 6-2. Mudassir Murtaza won the boys’ U18 singles event, after overcoming Arham Atiq 6-4, 2-6, 6-0 to win the title and Rs12,000 as prize money.


The tournament ran for a week, featuring 120 players in four different events.
