Illegal bus stands, vehicles booking offices, hotels, carts, shops, cabins and other constructions were demolished.
KARACHI:
The metropolitan corporation has been carrying out anti-encroachment operations in various parts of the city, said Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) commissioner Samiuddin Siddiqui. He was addressing a meeting held with his officers on Thursday evening. Encroachments established in front of the sales tax and deputy controller stationary offices and farms on Old Sabzi Mandi should be removed immediately since they are causing inconvenience and traffic jams, he said, adding that illegal goat markets would also be removed from this area. During a recent operation against encroachments in Sohrab Goth, several illegal bus stands, vehicles booking offices, hotels, carts, shops, cabins and other constructions were demolished. The operation is still underway to improve traffic flow so that people visiting this area would not have to face inconvenience due to encroachments. Siddiqui further added that the operation was being launched under the directives of the Sindh High Court.
