Negligence: Transformer blast kills one, injures 4

The police have registered an FIR against a Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO).

FAISALABAD: Four people were injured and one person was killed on Friday in an explosion at an electricity transformer above a tea stall. The police have registered an FIR against a Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) Faizabad sub divisional officer and the owner of a factory. Ghulam Muhammadabad police said an electricity transformer exploded above a tea shop in Faizabad. Police said five factory workers, Umer Farooq, Muhammad Ashraf, Yasir Ali, Ashfaq and Allah Rakha were injured in the explosion.  The injured people were taken to a hospital where Ashraf died. Residents of the area said the transformer had developed a fault a few days ago and started beeping at night. They said they had informed the FESCO subdivision staff but no one showed up to fix it.
