Two bombs weighing six and ten kilogrammes were found by the police near the Gana Mandi at the Superhighway on Thursday.
The two bombs were planted opposite each other on both sides of the Superhighway. Sohrab Goth SHO Naeem Khan said that after receiving information about the presence of the iron boxes near Ganna Mandi, the police immediately reached the site. The police then called the bomb disposal squad who took about an hour to difuse the bomb.
He confirmed that time devices were also attached with the bombs. According to the SHO, the entire area is full of Taliban militants and since there was no scheduled VIP movement at the time, it could not be said for sure who the target was. The bomb disposal squad official, Abdul Rauf, said that the bombs were homemade and placed in iron boxes with three kilogramme ball bearings, and were found lying on the sand in the busy road.
