
The district administration on Thursday raided a soft drinks manufacturing factory and arrested two people.
The factory was using a domestic gas connection for commercial purposes.
The city government got a tip off on gas theft and manufacturing of substandard cold drinks by Progressive Engineering Factory at Harbansepura.
The DCO constituted a team under the supervision of Senior Administration Officer Irfan Khalid.
The team, accompanied by the police conducted the raid on the factory and seized 5,000 bottles of beverages.
They also arrested two people.
“The owners were using a domestic gas meter for commercial purposes when the team raided the factory,” Khalid said.
The district administration confiscated machinery and disconnected the gas meter from the factory and sealed it.
