LAHORE:

The Lahore High Court chief justice took notice of an acid attack incident on Thursday.

The chief justice directed the district and sessions judge to submit a report on the police investigation of the case within three days.

The chief justice issued these orders after taking notice of a news item. According to the news report, Zahida Bibi, a resident of Tatarwala in Jampur, had told the police that her stepson, Wasim, used to mistreat her after the death of her husband.

She alleged that Wasim would beat her if she refused to give him money. On one such occasion, he and two unidentified men beat Zahida Bibi and her sister Anila Bibi and threw acid on them and fled.

The injured women were taken to the tehsil headquarters hospital and later to Nishtar Hospital in Multan.

Both women suffered 50 per cent burns.
