Her body was found abandoned in a canal near her school. Police suspect that she had been raped before she was killed.
Police said the girl was on her way to school with her brother on a motorcycle when the vehicle broke down. They said her brother asked her to walk to school. When her brother went to pick her up from school, he was told that she had not attended school.
Her brother and parents then looked for her in the village. They found her body floating in the Pichasi Jhaal canal. It was pulled out and sent for a post-mortem examination.
Police said there were bruises on her the girl’s body leading to a speculation that she had been raped.
