KARACHI: A man has gone to court to seek protection for his daughter, who has been declared ‘kari’ by her husband.

A Sindh High Court bench, headed by Justice Ghulam Sarwar Korai, gave orders that no ‘illegal’ action should be taken against this woman and issued notice to a man, Pasand Khan Lashari, who is believed to be looking for her to kill her.

Gul Muhammad said that Lashari abducted his daughter after giving her sleeping pills on July 15, he took her to Hyderabad where he forced her to marry him by obtaining her signature on the marriage certificate during illegal confinement.

As soon as the girl managed to flee, Lashari and his accomplices declared her ‘kari’.

The petitioner along with his daughter fled to Karachi  after the Gharo police refused to take action against the abductor, who happens to be a highly influential person who has maintained contacts with police high-ups.

Lashari and other respondents have been asked to file their comments by September 2.
