The body of a woman who was allegedly killed by her husband was exhumed upon court’s orders, said police on Sunday.
Haleema Bibi’s father Gohar Rehman had filed an application seeking a charge of double murder against his son-in-law, as the applicant claimed his daughter was pregnant at the time of the murder and her killer deserved to be punished for a double murder.
The accused Muneer Ahmed had reportedly shot his wife dead one and a half month ago in Kokmang Nawanshehra village. He was later arrested by police.
Rehman filed an application with the duty magistrate seeking a re-examination of the body to determine pregnancy.
The court then ordered the medical superintendent of the District Headquarters Hospital Abbottabad to assign his staff to conduct a post-mortem.
After the body was exhumed, a female medical officer with the assistance of other colleagues and police examined the body and took a sample.
The post-mortem result had not been submitted till this report was filed.
