A presiding officer and a polling agent were given into judicial custody on a 14-day physical remand by a judicial magistrate of district West, Muhammad Afzal Roshan, on Saturday.
Orangi Town police had arrested the presiding officer, Muhammad Bilal, along with polling agent, Muhammad Naveed, during the recent by-elections in PS-95 constituency. The investigations officer produced them in court and informed they were involved in casting bogus votes at a polling station established in Shobi Grammar School.
The officer requested for physical custody of the accused saying that the investigation has yet to be completed. The judicial magistrate, Muhammad Afzal Roshan, however, sent them to prison custody for 14 days. It also directed the investigations officer to submit a charge-sheet.
