Road mishaps: Four killed, 17 injured in separate incidents

An oil tanker was on its way to Gilgit from Rawalpindi when it skidded off the KKH and plunged into River Abaseen.

Three people were burnt alive when an oil tanker caught fire in Komela, near the district headquarter of Kohistan, police and witnesses reported on Friday.


According to Komela Police, an oil tanker was on its way to Gilgit from Rawalpindi when it skidded off the Karakoram Highway and plunged into River Abaseen. Residents recovered the charred bodies from the river and shifted them to Komela Basic Health Unit.

In another incident, a boy identified as Abdul Majid was killed and 17 other passengers were injured when a passenger van fell off a bridge on Friday. Eyewitnesses told the police a pickup was en route to Battagram from Battamori when the driver lost control of the van and it fell off Jaisool Bridge. The nine injured women and children were shifted to District Headquarters Hospital, Battagram from where they were referred to a hospital in Abbottabad.
