KARACHI:

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) yesterday issued a notice to former captain Rashid Latif, seeking evidence to support his media statement regarding Indian bookmaker Annu Bhatt.

Latif had recently claimed that Bhatt, named in leg-spinner Danish Kaneria’s case by the England and Wales Cricket Board, was the PCB’s guest when India and England toured Pakistan in 2005 and 2006 respectively.

“We have issued him [Latif] a notice, seeking evidence for his statement,” PCB’s legal adviser Tafazzul Rizvi confirmed to The Express Tribune.

“We have sought concrete evidence like air tickets and hotel bills to support his claims. If he fails to present proof, we will ask him to tender an apology and will seek assurance from him that no such statement will come in the future.”

Latif could not be approached for his comment until the filing of the report.

Zakir Khan | 11 years ago | Reply PCB is being dis-ingenious. Instead of investigating the allegations, just clam up and persecute the person who is identifying the issue. Rashid Latiff is a credible person and has served Pakistan well. Many of us will be in agreement with him. THE PCB is on the wrong side and should investigate its own people and make sure you find and clear out the house from corruption and dealing with crooked people. PCBs reputation and credibility is in serious question especially after how the likes of Ijaz Butt and other folks at the helm have time and again made fools of themselves so royally. They should wisen up and start accepting advice from saner minds to build their credibility up..

The geniuses at PCB always shamelessly deny everything at first whenever anything is brought to their attention but then end up eating up their words. Match fixing scandals in the nineties and then in 2010 are prime examples of the immature responses by the PCB.

Rashid Latif is hugely respected all over the word for his battle against match fixing and has a lot more credibility than the PCB in the eyes of the fans.
