KARACHI:

The Pakistan U19 cricket team returned home after clinching the tri-nation tournament title in England earlier this week.

Pakistan defeated the hosts in the final to win the trophy while Bangladesh were the other side in the tournament.

The winning team that arrived at the Lahore airport was greeted by various Pakistan Cricket Board officials.

Upon the team’s arrival, captain Sami Aslam heaped praise on his side. “We showed a collective effort,” he told reporters at the airport. “The team remained consistent throughout the event and I am happy with the performance of every individual.”

Meanwhile, a team official termed the win ‘crucial’ in the build up for next year’s U19 World Cup.

“The tournament was good experience for the team,” he said. “Our bowling and batting have been doing well but we need improvement in our fielding.”
