Express Tribune’s correspondent Asad Kharal said that the ISI had written a letter to the Interior ministry seven days before the attack, informing about an assassination bid by the al Qaeda to kill Benazir Bhutto and also mentioned Rehman Malik’s name. The letter also demanded tight security for Benazir Bhutto.
The Interior ministry forwarded the letter to police and concerned security departments.
Despite the forewarning, Bhutto was assassinated on December 27, 2007 after a rally at Liaquat National Bagh, Rawalpindi.

Nobody remembers the rumoured phone call she had received advising her to show herself to her people just before the attack? It was attributed variously to one of her daughters or her husband!

ISI received information about plot to kill Benazir Bhutto
Then then COAS cum President Gen Musharraf has already been indicted by a court for Benazir assassination.
Does this imply that ISI received information about its own plot or its President's plot from a third party?
Weird.
Musharaf has no fault in providing security as the letter is forwarded so i think he should unchain now from the Case .
No sympathy for Musharraf but I believe that is exactly what the govt advised BB and her team. What they did was their own choice....
And yet people are unhappy with ISI performance and its role in safe guarding the land. People were never told about the threats and attacks ISI had saved throughout. Only their failure use to be highlighted by print & social media..

A day before her assassination in Liaqat Bagh, Ms Benazir Bhutto addressed a largely attended public meeting at Arbab Niaz Stadium in Peshawar amid very tight security arrangements and she safely returned to Isamabad.Then how com that such a fool proof security arrangement was not in place in her public meeting in Rawalpindi. This subtle and indirect Musharraf bashing will bring out nothing.
Whats new in this? It has already been reported in the media 2-3 days before the assassination. She also openly told that her life is in danger. despite of this gvt has failed to provide adequate security to BB.
Contradictory statements of Mush before and after murder of BB show clearly his complicity in the assassination. of the first woman PM of Pakistan. .Any how let justice be done to all concerned without discrimination..
I don't get this, based on perceived threat BB was provided Bullet/Bomb proof jeep, fact that those who were in the jeep were safe n sound means the arrangements were appropriate. Now how can an individual or institution be blamed for someones personal decision to get out of the jeep to wave? Did Mush call her to get out and wave? "Personal" vendetta is apparent, if someone can't see it then......
Benazir was a good politician. She had a vision with rajiv gandhi to solve the siachin issue though I disagree with rajiv and our army was right to not give away strategic points at the expense of crocodile tears at that particular time period,not now.Pakistan had a good well educated lady at power and she got martyred. I still see more educated , well meaning, practical ladies in ppp than in all the other pakistani parties put togather in I see sherry, sharmila, other ladies in ppp. I don't see any lady of any consequences in other parties. It is a legacy of Mrs Bhutto years. Rab rakha
