Festive Season: ‘Rakhsa Bandhan’ celebrated

ATTOCK: Members of Hindu, Sikh communities of Pakistan around Attock district celebrated Raksha Bandhan at Gourdwara Punja Sahib, Hassan Abdal on Tuesday.

Some 4,000 Hindus and Sikhs participate in this religious festival across Pakistan.

The entire area around Gurdwara Punja Sahib was sealed and entry for any outsider banned.

Raksha Bandhan is a centuries-old festival of Hinduism in which sisters tie ‘rakhi’ (sacred thread) to their brothers.

The festival is meant to celebrate the bond between siblings but is not restricted to siblings as women can tie a ‘rakhi’ to any man whom she considers her brother.
