Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) chief Fazlur Rehman on Tuesday hailed the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s address to the nation and said all the provincial governments should support the federal government to overcome the prevailing challenges.
He underlined the fact that the country was facing a number of challenges including terrorism, energy crisis and floods, saying that the prime minister had shown resolve to address all the problems with the support of the provincial governments.
Addressing public rallies at Kata Khel and Pahar Pur tehsils of Dera Ismail Khan in connection with the upcoming by-elections, he said the country was in grave need of sincere leadership that can address the issues it is facing.
He appreciated the PM’s option of initiating dialogue with the Taliban to maintain peace and hoped that in the coming days, a formal invitation would be forwarded to them, citing time as a very important factor.
He added that the country’s economy has become weak and major steps need to be taken for its revival.
Although Fazl seemed very appreciative of Nawaz, he also ruled out the possibility of any single person or political party resolving Pakistan’s problems and noted that devising a policy with the concurrence of all political forces was the only way out to improve Pakistan’s economy and eliminate the menace of militancy in the country.
In a late development on Tuesday, the Election Commission of Pakistan decided to delay the by-elections for NA-25 DI Khan-cum-Tank, citing security concerns.
