According to initial reports, the shelling started at 1:50pm, causing a state of panic in the area.
Cross border violations from the Indian side had earlier injured three people in the locality.
This is not the first time that Indian forces have been allegedly involved in unprovoked shelling in the Nakyal sector of the LoC that has recently scene allegations of cross-border firing from both sides in recent weeks.
The attack is the latest in a spate of recent cross-border skirmishes between the two nuclear-armed neighbours who have fought three wars since independence from the British rule in 1947, two over the Muslim-majority region of Kashmir.
The two sides agreed to a ceasefire along the LoC in November 2003, but skirmishes have flared across the heavily-militarised Line of Control (LoC), the de facto border in Kashmir, in recent weeks, with both sides blaming each other for having violated the agreement.

It is clearly evident that some political or power based turmoil has effected the subcontinent. But military actions on a war scale, is not going to happen.
First of all, India is on the verge of its elections and Pakistan, has just begun a new government. On a political level, both the governments aren't prepared to deal with such a situation.
On the economic aspect, both the country's economy is faltering over the past 3-4 quarters and a full on scale war is very expensive.
Apart from these main constraints, without a particular reason, both the governments can't justify starting a war. So, instead of having a debate on who would win, it is better that we discuss as to what can be done in order to stop such acts of barbarism.
Hope, I haven't hurt any feelings here. I have both pakistani and Indian friends as neighbours and I find them to be very amicable.
40,000+ lost to TTP and not a single nuke used.
@Pakistani: Teach India a lesson AGAIN? Which madrassa did you learn history in? Pakistan has never won a war with India though it has started many.
@Pakistani: "don’t push our forces to teach you a lesson, yet again" Please enumerate. Let us know when you or your army or your non-state actors have taught us a lesson. Thank your lucky stars that you have not been made into a parking lot.
@SSG: .
Maybe you can explain Kargil? Your observation may sound reasonable but it's pretty clear that the "nuke" option didn't deter Pakistan so I am unsure why it would apply to India. Nukes are a last resort weapon and it's unlikely that Pakistan or India would use nukes in a battle over Kashmir.
Kinda surprises me when Indians brag about the size of their country and military. Does USA vs Vietnam ring any bells?
Look, while its all cool to talk about war and stuff, the reality is very very different. Do you guys seriously think that Pakistan VS India (full scale war) is possible in today's era without the involvement of the major players (China, Russia, USA)?
@SSG: @Usama Bin Ahmed: Use of nuclear weapons? Yawn.
@SSG/ Usama Bin Ahmed "You are underestimating the power of Pak Army. Remember, both countries are nuclear powers and both would be demolished simultaneously in case of any attack." "This is a nuclear armed Pakistan. India would be stupid to go to war with its nuclear armed neighbor."
Musharraf thought the same way when he decided to attack Kargil in 1999 while India's PM was still inside Pakistan doing "peace talks". Pakistan's nuclear weapons that time didn't really save it. Nawaz Sharif had to run to US. Pakistan Army disowned bodies of thousands of its troops lying dead around Kargil. Do not ever think yourself as superior to anybody, and certainly not a country way bigger than you economically & militarily. This same thinking has got Pakistan to where it is today. Also just as a random note: India today is one of the only 4 countries in the world with anti-ballistic missiles, which can not only save its main cities from a nuclear attack but can also respond to Pakistan in the same way in less than 2 minutes - with a nuclear bomb, that is. Of course, Pakistan has no such protection..
Relax guys. Nothing is going to happen. Both the armies had got bored for the last one decade due to ceasefire, so just playing with each other. It will be over soon.
We may go down but the aggressor will learn a terrible lesson as well.
We indians are really really scared now:-( You are almighty.
Relax son. this is not 1971 or 1965. This is 2013. This is not iraq, afghanistan or iran. This is a nuclear armed Pakistan. India would be stupid to go to war with its nuclear armed neighbor. Peace must be given a serious chance and both parties must respect that. However if things go south and Pakistan is pushed the limit and when i say limit (existence is threatened) then all options including nuclear should be on the table.. We may go down but the aggressor will learn a terrible lesson as well.
@skhan:
You are underestimating the power of Pak Army. Remember, both countries are nuclear powers and both would be demolished simultaneously in case of any attack.
@skhan contain your excitement. not something to be enthusiastic about. India on the other hand is, as always, showing an extremely irresponsible behavior. plotting against Pakistan wont help. don't push our forces to teach you a lesson, yet again.
Believe it or not, it is coming, its coming really hard! flood water release in Sutlaj and other rivers, Terrorism in Baluchistan, Shelling at LoC, many Pakistani prisoners disappeared from Indian jails, allegations on Pak Army, Indian PM's warning to Pakistan and so on and on.... Its a package! If Pakistan is pushed into war even in a conventional one, with the current Govt. in office, oh boy, the damage will be irreversible and wounds will be very deep will take ages to heal!!! Pakistan Must avoid getting in war with India, this is not the time!
