Sigh of relief: Govt to release Rs3.1b to KESC

After assurance of payment from the finance minister, the power utility postponed its plan of 13-hours load-shedding.

Finance Minister Ishaq Dar while meeting with SindhGovernor  Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan at the Governor House said the government is going to immediately release Rs3.1 billion to the KESC in order to restrain the utility from longer load-shedding.


Murtaza said that after assurance of payment from the federal finance minister Ishaq Dar, the power utility has postponed the plan of 13-hours load-shedding across the city. Earlier, he said, KESC had requested the government officials to release at least Rs7.5 billion out of the total payables of Rs 84 billion.

Interesting: somehow I get a feeling that "blackmailing" the government seems to work.
