Dr Ayesha of PIMS Hospital told the media that Sikandar had received bullets in his stomach and legs.
His wife, Kanwal, is stable and has been discharged. The federal police took her to a police safe house in the morning, Dr Waseem Khuwaja said.
“Our psychiatry expert Dr Rizwan Taj examined Kanwal for any mental disability but she was found mentally fit and was discharged,” Dr Khuwaja told the media.
As for Sikandar’s mental evaluation, Dr Taj did not find any agitated or abnormal behavior on his part, however, when asked about his actions, “Sikandar says he is satisfied with what he did”.
Informing the media, Dr Khuwaja further added that Sikandar kept on saying that he would not let "the Jew conspiracy succeed."
Sikandar also denied allegations of drug addiction.
IG Islamabad ordered to submit report
The interior ministry has ordered Inspector General (IG) Police Islamabad, Sikandar Hayat Khan to submit a report regarding the Malik Sikandar gun incident that paralyzed Islamabad for nearly 6 hours, Express News reported on Saturday.
Interior Secretary, Qamar Zaman Chaudhry has allotted a time of 48 hours for a response.
Questions include an explanation regarding the failure on part of the police to clear and cordon off the area.
Another question asks how Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Zamrud Khan by-passed security to go to talk to Malik Sikandar, in a potentially dangerous situation.
Failure of the IG to show leadership also requires an explanation in the report.
Gunman Sikandar accompanied by his wife and children brought Islamabad to a standstill on Thursday by waving two sub-machine guns and occasionally firing into the air.
The standoff that lasted for five hours eventually ended after Sikandar and his wife were shot and arrested when the PPP member lunged at him.

Guy does not seem to have a drug problem. He would have shown withdrawal symptoms in jail for lack of drug.

This probably was the job of a foreign hand or inside drama job. If this guy was a true conservative Muslim, he would have a beard and cap. Did they check to see if he had a saffron band on his hand? Could this guy be a RAW agent posing as a Pakistani. It was done before, where Ram Singh was portraying himself to be a Pakistani, Ajmal Kasab and had an AK 47 in his hands in public.

Just a thought. Since we are always complaining about the severely apathetic state of our nation and its people , how exactly is one expected to bring about any sort of revolution? By holding candles and banners in a peaceful vigil outside the parliament house and collectively singing "mein toh dekhoon ga" ?

Lame comment, his family looks well fed. He has money to get guns, rent a car et cetera, I don't think he is missing out on any basic human necessities ( and I mean basic), the real deserving people largely stay hidden. I have been hearing he wanted to get his son free and also get a job at some embassy. @Just saying.. g8 response, I didn't think it that way, but still his actions were silly. There is not much you can do sometimes, you just have to accept things as they are and do things as honestly as you can when you are a commoner although at times it can be frustrating, because these days everyone is individualistic and people in power are self-centred.
He is not a jihadi mullah and does not belong to any militant outfit as being pointed out by some.. To me he looked sane and represented the plight of scores of Pakistanis who have been deprived of basic human necessities by successive governments. He simply lost his cool and acted out of frustration because of the goings on in our country these days! And oh btw did it ever occur to you that if he wanted to kill anyone he would have done it without any hesitation, especially after when Zamurd khan leaped on to him; he had the chance but, he didnt! He wanted change!
I am also satisfied with Sikandar because when I make a EasyLoad in my phone for recharge the account balance, paid account have been deducted with all texations and when I buy a ticky pack biscuit to deminish the little hunger, sale tax also included in the cost price of that biscuit,..... and and and I don't recevie any reward of mine taxes which I had been paid... I have no transportations to go university to learn the lessons of life and bring the name Pakistan onto high postion....

I am surprised not a single trained psychologist or a psychiatrist was was consulted by the irresponsible and ignorant media during its coverage to inform people about mental conditions that may cause this kind of behaviour. Evidently the man seems to be delusional (could be schizophrenic or manic) and history of drug abuse is also significant. A delusion is a false , firm and fixed belief that a person cannot be talked out of easily. His wife appears to display classic 'cult' following signs because she totally believes in him. Situation could have been tackled calmly and with more waiting, keeping media away and cordoning off the place. Skies would not have fallen. But for that unwise act by Zamurad, everything failed!
any clue who was treating him if he had any psychiatric help in the past? and how was he providing for his family considering mental instability? some change in statement: from demanding to impose shahria to making jew conspiracy unsuccessful! at the expense of what he did??
Soon this mode of effort for Sharia implementation is going to gain popularity. No dearth of weapons and publicity seekers, to become hero overnight. Once Sikandar is medically, mentally and physically fit to stand trial for his stunt, there will be a surge in support for him. Trying him in a court of law will not be an easy job.
i think behind these 6 hour , some thing big happen. Govt not paralyzed islamabad for 6 hour, i think govt paralyzed media for 6 hours and did some thing big behind this incident.
